Judge a movie by its trailer? For hollywood films? We had a post for misleading trailers, more specifically about the village. I Judged from the trailer...and i was deceived.
Not even the trailer. Nothing that can streamline your thought before watching the movie.
"With the absence of criticism we enforce reality". Dont read any reviews before u see a movie, cause if its bottomline is that the movie is bad, you are walking into the theater with that in mind. The best reviews are the ones that dont rate or resault into a verdict.
Its quite hard for a reviewer to judge like an observator rather than a pre-conceived judge. There are movies ofcrouse like "resident evil apocalypse" or "house of wax" that you dont need a trailer or a review, you allready know the outcome, bad-spent money and two hours of your life wasted in a dark theater that was screening a crappy movie that a 28 year old had the bright idea to make money from.
I Was blown away from the "War of the Worlds" trailer, but i allready know that this is a pop-corn flick, nothing much into it than CGI and Lousy character work. Im just curious about spielberg's return to the alien thing and heavy cgi movies.

You can still have a pretty good idea of whether or not you want to see a movie by its trailer. Sometimes that is not the case, like as you said with "The Village" or something like that. The reason I avoid reviews before I see a movie for the first time is because they are supposed to be subjective. After I see the movie and have developed my own opinions toward it, I like to read what others think about it.

You can't always judge a movie by its trailer. By design, trailers are supposed to entice people to theatres. The trailers for Michael Bay's "Pearl Harbor" were awesome. Unfortunately, the movie sucked. However, we can deduce from the fact that Bay was directing that "Pearl Harbor" wasn't going to be any good.
On the other hand, there are good movies with lousy trailers. It really just depends on who cut the advertisements...
