Is anyone else looking forward to this one? The trailer is quite powerful, and the film has a great cast. Yet, best of all, masterful writer/director Terrence Malick is at the helm. All his films have been poetic and visual feasts - so here's to his new one - The New World!

I have been looking forward to "the next Terence Malick" film for quite some time because, let's face it, we don't get very many of those. I wasn't so thrilled to see the trailer, but I am hoping it's just some crass marketing ploy to make it seem like an Alexander-style epic. I cannot imagine Malick making such a movie. In any case, this is the one movie I am most eagerly awaiting for the rest of the year.

Some people may be reluctant to accept Colin Farrell in a leading role after 'Alexander.' But I have no doubt Malick will coax a great performance out of him - I personally think this may be the performance that allows him to break out critically and artistically speaking.

I think we're safe in terms of singing, Tim. But, you might have to put up with the odd bit of chanting.

The chanting I can handle, nontheless, looks like a decent film to see.

This is the NON-Disney version of Pocahontas, right? As long as there's no singing in it I'll look forward to it. ;)

Kurtis,

What did you think about A Home at the End of the World? I thought Farrell put up a wonderful performance not recognized by many. Quite the departure from all the mainstream stuff he had been caught up in those busy years.

I still have a bad taste left in my mouth after Alexander, hopefully this movie will put his career back on track.

I'd say Colin is good but he's really never impressed me in terms of sending me over-the-top with acting joy. My favorite performance of his is still "Tigerland" where he was still a little rough under the edges, but the role fit his personality so well.
