Saw this last Friday.
Let me just say that if you are a fan of the Man in Black, then this film will more than interest you. Mangold has crafted a film that engages from the outset, with only the slightest loss of momentum in the midsection of its 2.5 hour running time.
Great performances abound, from Robert Patrick to Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix, and even though you might not be able to get past that it's Phoenix and not Johnny on the screen, if you close your eyes, you'll think you're listening to Cash himself.
Worth the trip to the theater, but won't lose much if you only catch it on video.
Sean (...the Man in Charcoal Grey...)
