Creature Corner recently had the chance to do an email interview with one of the more despised directors out there now - Uwe Boll whose new movie "Bloodrayne", starring Michael Madsen, Michelle Rodriguez and Ben Kingsley, is coming out January 6th. The man gave short answers but had a few things to say about his other upcoming video game to film adaptations:
Any info on the film version of Postal?
I write the script right now
And is it true that Gary Coleman will reprise his role from the game?
Yes
What's going on with the rights to Hitman?
Hopefully Vin Diesel is contacting me soon
Far Cry?
Fully financed, we go for The Rock or Jason Statham
Do you anticipate the change in German tax law next year to effect your ability to continue to get films financed?
The next three are financed
Meanwhile it was announced today that an exclusive new trailer for his $55 million movie "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale" will be attached to every "Bloodrayne" print.

god bless Uwe Boll. He's done such wonders with the video game film genre that I think I need to build a time machine, throw him in it and send him back to the '90s so he can be the director of "Super Mario Brothers", "Double Dragon", "Street Fighter" and "Mortal Kombat" 1 & 2. Then once Uwe is done filming his masterpieces, I'd shove back into the time machine and yank him back out at the turn of the century and let him put his own spin on "Tomb Raider" 1 & 2 and "Wing Commander". His final work of cinematic genuis will be his version of "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within" featuring artwork crudly hand drawn by Boll on slightly damp cocktail napkins. Then back into the time machine for the future holds Katmari Damacy: The Movie!
Time for F.F.U.F.!!! (Five Fast Uwe Facts)
1. Uwe was born in Wermelskirchen, Germany
2. He used real zombies in "House of the Dead"
3. Mr. Boll has a doctorate in literature
4. Uwe saw nothing wrong with casting Tara Ried as a scientest in "Alone in the Dark"
5. Uwe Boll can fly faster than Superman but runs slower than the Flash

The reason people enjoy the horror genre is the same as any genre, escapism! Sure there's a helluva lot of crap out there but for every twenty House of the Dead, Fear Dot Com, Darkness Falls, The Amityville Horror, Boogeyman, etc. there are excellent and fun films like Cemetery Man, Cabin Fever, Dead Alive, Shaun of the Dead, and classics like Rosemary's Baby, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, Night of the Living Dead, Silence of the Lambs and so on.
Particular genres appear to particular people. A good friend of mine loves musicals. Why? I have no idea. Every single one seems the same to me and in my eyes story progression through song is the lowest form of writing.
Same for Mystery/Thriller crap like Mystic River, Blood Work or any Denzel Washington movie. Some guy and/or some girl are going to run around for 90 minutes trying to figure out which one of the casually mentioned characters is the killer and guess what... it's always the obvious choice.
At least in a horror movie I don't have to waste time figuring out who the killer is. It's the guy with the lazy eye hidden behind a cheap mask that's carrying a pitchfork!
And S Coaster, how can you complain about a movie's predictability or even quality when your collection contains Hollywood garbage like Jurassic Park III, A Beautiful Mind, The Last Samurai, Enemy At The Gates, Braveheart, The Mummy Returns, Passion of the Christ, and Star Wars Episodes I & II?!?!
I mean come on! Do you ever go out of your way to see a movie?;)

I Really don't understand why people fall for this genre. The horror movie is the most formulated genre of Hollywood. Even the trailers look the same....flickering screens, sound only with a few bones cracking, some screaming. I Mean, you walk into the cinema and you allready know what you are going to see. After SAW they are exploding all over the place again. I Saw this trailer the other day, "The hills have eyes", Before clicking "play trailer" i said to my self "allright, ill skip the idiotic title, and watch the damn preview" and guess what, it felt like any other flick of that genre, like S*IT. OOh yeah, and don't forget the new trend, every horror movie is now based on true events, like "The Hostel" FROM THE BRILIANT MINDS THAT BROUGHT YOU SAW...." and then you get "AND KILL BILL" . I mean, tarantino probably was approached by these people to push the movie's marketability. It's ridiculus how people fall for that kind of movies. It looks like "Texas chainsaw massacre meets Saw" that a mid 20's "screewriter wannabe" jotted down on a pizza box while having a date with a studio exec.

True about the genres, but again, in my collection you didn't saw any thrillers now did you? And that list hasnt been updated recently. Most of the junk in there are for my home theater system testings. i love sound. You can;t blame me for that.
You also noticed gems like Milos' Amadeus or Cuckoo's nest. Not to mention my 150 european films which your site doesn;t have.

I was just goofing on ya Coaster, you should see some of the crap I'm willing to sit through. But not A Beautiful Mind....'Comeon! ;)
Please add those 150 european films to our missing DVD forum (as long as they're Region 1), that way we can add them in and even out your collection a little bit.
But for me, buying movies based on just the sound is kinda like going to a baseball game when you're blind; you might be enjoying what you hear, but really you're missing the big picture.
