I guess Eddie is just voicing what we don't want to bring ourselves to admit. Although the only thing I enjoyed about Million Dollar Baby was the narration (namely cause I love Morgan Freeman's voice). Your review, however, was very deep and insightful. I suppose if you can objectively state why you disliked a movie, and why you thought it was garbage, as you skillfully did, then all is forgiven.

Many prostitutes can also choose with whom they sleep. Selling one's body for sex is still an act of prostitution. Yes, I realize that geishas didn't sell sex all the time the way that prostitutes do, but they still sold sex on the side to pad their bottom line. (By the way, I'm not denouncing prostitutes or geishas; I'm merely wondering why geishas can't get over a technicality.)
I was going to rate the movie a "5", but then I realized that so much of the movie doesn't make sense that it had to be less than a "5" (an average effort).
Faithfulness to source material isn't automatically a plus or a negative. One needs to determine how a movie is faithful to its sources.
As for "Chicago", Renee Zellweger, and "Million Dollar Baby", I referenced them because I was making comparisons to similar issues (Rob Marshall's other movie and another movie with lousy voiceover narration). These comparisons were necessary to illustrate my points. Besides, when has it ever been questionable to discuss a movie in the context of a moviemaker's career?

I saw the film and found the visual aspects far more intriguing than the storyline itself. It was a truly beautiful film, although lacking a tad in storyline-- overall I really enjoyed it.
