I'm in the process of converting the living roomish thing in my studio college apartment into a theater. Does anybody have some links to authentic theater stuff, like carpet, maybe some pictures of cool looking home theaters, stuff like that? Maybe show some pictures of your own if you've got one!

Wow, I really need to get some pictures of my setup. It's not as good as Per2k's, but, it'll suffice.
In any case lucboone, if you're interested, a magazine I like to daydream in a lot is "Home Theater Interiors". I first came across it at "Barnes & Noble". Actually, it's the only place I've seen it so far. It has a LOT of ideas for home theaters, but for the most part, it displays the home theaters of people that have so much money they don't know what to do with it. It's still cool to windowshop through however.

Sorry 'bout that 'Roque leader' (a little Star Wars humor there for you). Yours is nice too. Your DVD shelves look like they're recessed. Nice work! Unfortunately my home theater has taken over my miniscule 21 1/2' X 14 1/2' Living room. I've gone as far as to make "theater seating" out of my two small couches sitting one behind the other. The living room no longer lives up to it's namesake. It's solely a home theater/game room now. :D
From what I remember though, either one or the other, or both John Puccio, and Tim Raynor, have EVERYONE here beaten when it comes to home theater setups. How 'bout it guys? Post your setups again! I remember John has his speakers "tri-wired", I don't have the money for seperate amps, and wiring setups... though my speakers support tri-wiring. ;)

My living room system is ridiculous. It does one thing only: it plays music from CDs in two-channel stereo. But it takes three stereo amplifiers, a preamp, a crossover, two CD players, two subwoofers, and two main loudspeakers with twelve individiual speakers in each of them (six electrostatics) to accomplish the job.
My separate home theater is listed in my profile, and it's the usual assortment of things: Sony 36" standard-screen XBR high-definition television; Dolby Digital receiver; Boston Acoustics and Infinity speakers; Energy subwoofer; Sony 7700 DVD player; Sony VHS and Betamax tape players; Comcast high-definition cable box; reclining couch-potato two-seater sofa. Nissan 350Z. Opps. Sorry; that's another story.

John, I think you epitomize the audio enthusiast. :) That's a TRUE audiophile that devotes so much to just "stereo" listening! I assume with that kind of quality equipment in a stereo setup, you'd be able to easily hear the differences between a compressed digital file, versus an analog uncompressed file. Personally, I LOVE music, but I honestly can't hear the difference in quality of "most" MP3's recorded at 256 kbps and above.

luc,
CONGRATS MAN!! I was in your exact position about 3 years ago. I had a 21" Sony that I had for 8 years prior to that (which has now moved to my bedroom). Then I got my 51" Sony Wide Screen HDTV!! I love it to death! It's been the best TV I've ever owned. I assume you got a "rear projection"?
In any case, I'm sure you'll love your new TV, and if you're anything like I was when I first got mine, you'll be spending the first few days after you get it, living in your home theater.
I'll see if I can take some pictures of my theater, I need to find a place I can post them however. Anyone know where I can do that?
Happy movie watching.

Thanks! I just got a new screen installed last night. Got the other one traded for free because they delivered a screen with to litle canvas. The new one now goes almost down to the ground if I want. Now I don't have to look up as much, but more straight forward wich is nice.

You can post pictures at webshots.com in the community area. I am going to post pictures of my theater room in the next couple of days. I also have a Sony HDTV widescreen and like the others, I absolutely love it.
By the way staff guys, could you please update the two following missing movies?
White Boys w/ Piper Perabo and the Up in smoke tour music dvd
Thanks

Well, I've got my home theater pictures taken. Now I just need a place to post them. It looks like "webshots.com" is a pay site. Anyone know of a free place to post pictures?
