DV10 is a new projector from Optoma with an intergrated dvd player. Specs look really good, but how does it compare to a projector of around equal dollar value? DV10 retails @ $1500.00 and just came out this month I believe. I have not found any conusmer reviews for it yet. Has anybody here checked it out? Looking to join the wagon and get a projector and don't mind spending that much, but I am curious as to how it performs. Also, no local stores are carrying it so I can't even ask for a demo. Any insight would be appreciated.

I haven't seen it in person, but I have been hearing nice things about it. It appears to be a decent projector, but for me, the lack of any digital inputs is a drawback. The built in DVD player is a nice idea, but I get much better DVD playback when using my computer hooked via DVI to my Sanyo Z2 than any of the regular DVD players I have. Can't argue with the price though, and the specs seem decent enough.

thanks for your feed back. wow! i bet your system is awesome.
Yea, one of the things mentioned on the dv10 was that because it had a built in dvd player that it didn't need a digital hook up to give you the picture in true digital form. That and it claimed to give a true cinema widescreen presentation also caught my eye. I currently have an old 46" mitsubishi hdtv, however I noticed that my display even when zoomed out as far as I can go still cuts off a little of the picture on the left & right. But when i put a dvd in my computer, the image is practically double the picture in wideness. (<--is that a word?)

When I saw this projector I thought of Camping. A boom box for sound and the campsite screen, movie under the stars.

I have the Optoma h30 and it is 480p the dv10 says it's also 480p. This means sitting farther back from screen and even though hdtv compatible it is still only 480p resolution. You can get Optoma Hd72 with 720p for just about $1000. Don't get me wrong hdtv looks awsome on my h30 and movies look awsome and the freedom to watch movies outdoors with family and friends (which I have done) is one of the reasons We bought the projector. I just thought you should take into consideration the resolution. 480p is EDTV (E for enhanced ) Not HDTV. and in this day and age of HD players resolution is a big deal. But if that does not matter then you are all set and I know you will enjoy your projector!!!!

Optoma also have a new HD80 projector. It is a full 1080 24p unit with HDMI 1.3A (Deep Color support) - First reviews indicates it is a very attractive unit.

What's amazing is the price. Around $2700.
