Sounds and Audio Devices in Windows XP Ctrl. Panel

Does anybody know the difference between these two settings?

Try and configure your speakers through your soundcard, not the lame windowsXP Speaker configurator.

As far as room accoustics go, non of the two options is quite the best. depends on your room situation, and offcourse, your sound card.
