Barbra Streisand - YENTL

Can someone please explain why Barbra Streisand's 1983 movie YENTL still hasn't been released on DVD. If I remember correctly she said on Oprah a couple of years ago that she had made director's commentary etc for a DVD release. Does anyone know?

Yes, it hasn't reached DVD yet for the same reason that the 1951 Bogart/Hepburn classic "The African Queen" hasn't come to DVD: The studios are too busy releasing more important things like "Young Einstein," "Police Academy 8," and "Camp Sleepaway 14."

Though I have trouble with any post that has the names Barbera Strisand and Oprah in it , I do think this should be released. But dude, next time you wanna plug a movie for DVD release, leave out Oprah, lie and change it to somthing like Howard Stern at least then I won't get a heart attack from laughing. One might think John's comments about Police Academy films being released before African Queen and Yentyl would be sarcasm, but clearly Police Academy is leaps and bounds above anything involving that attention grabbing Jesibelle. Down with Yentyl, Funny Girl, Beaches, and all things Streisand!!! (Exclude SNL: 25 Years and Meet The Fockers)

there laugh at that. Oprah's, ehh, I dont know about her sometimes, but Barbra is a true icon, wonderful actress and singer. You must be one of those guys who dont like "chick flicks". Nothing wrong with a chick flick. Or dont like movies that tell a good story...dramas, and especially family films. The world does not consist of horror, action or sports movies. Get over yourself.

The classics need to be on DVD first. Afterall, they were made first. Im glad Desk Set is out. :-D

Sources tell BarbraNews.com that it's unlikely 'Yentl' (1983) will be released this year on DVD. Expect a 2005 release.

And, Yentl (1983) is currently set to be released by MGM on the 11th of July in the UK. Confirmed by me on mvc.co.uk. Doesnt help us though!!! lol I might have to get it from there. Cmon Barbra, make it happen for us!!!
