Hello all,

I have a frustrating problem trying to play certain DVDs on my computer.

The problem I am having is that it freezes and locks up my system. For example, when I play Gladiator, Matrix, or Planet of the Apes - its fine.

However, when I play Heat or Mullholand Drive, the player has problems reading it.

Computer Specs:

PII-400
768 MB RAM
ATI Radeon 64MB DDR video card.

OS:
Windows 2000 Server w/ SP2

DVD Player:
PowerDVD version 3

CD-ROM:
Sony DDU1621 (ATAPI)

Testing:

- ALL DVDs works and plays fine on normal DVD players

- When I looked at my even viewer, it says that there is a bad block on the CD-ROM but I don't think so because I've exchange for the same title 3 times!

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Christopher

I am having the same type of problem too. My machine is PII 300mhz with a atapi DVD rom made by Raite model # RDR-108H. My video is a ATI Mach64 pci card with 8megs of video ram. My hard drives are scsi hooked to adaptec 2940uw with 68pin hard drives. Also 250megs of RAM, so speed is not a problem. I can only play one of my DVD's and thats a older copy of The Net, which works fine. I have a copy of Swordfish and Gettysburg and neither will play. also I am using PowerDVD ver. 1.6 but does the same with a Acer hardware assit card and a Creative labs card too(Model# CT7160), both cards made to interface with the ATI card. I have had the same problem with a friends computer with a Athlon 800 mhz cpu and a sony dvd rom. whats the deal?
