Hi,

I am a big fan of Historical Epics including Lawrence of Arabia. I am also a huge fan of Sir Ridley Scott and was wondering if a Director's Cut or a Collector's Edition of his "1492 - Conquest of Paradise" is ever planned to be released on DVD.

I already own Gladiator - Extended Edition as well as the new Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut DVDs and would love to add that movie to my collection some day.

If you know any news on the matter, I would greatly appreciate it. :D 8)

Thanks,

Just rumors. It looks like Paramount just has no plans to release this movie on DVD or Blu-Ray at the moment. Anything can happen. It looks like it's just a movie studio decision, but there could be many factors at work here. Though, in 2004 there was a release date set for 11/16/2004 and there was to be an Anamorphic Widescreen movie only DVD, the UPC code was 097363274247. For whatever reason the release just did not happen and was taken off and cancelled from Paramount. I don't see what the problem is, there has been VHS and Laserdisc editions in the past.

Not sure why this did not come out on that planned street date. As for Scott's 4 hour cut of 1492, that will take time but he probably will get it done eventually.

No matter what, it seems a DVD is ready to go in the USA, but something is holding this one up.
