Does anyone have any opinions or news on when the planned extended versions for King Kong, Narnia- The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, or Underworld: Evolution will be released?

For now, extended versions of Kong and Underworld are just rumors. I haven't heard anything about an extended Narnia. To me, the only film that might benefit from an extended cut is Underworld. Although it's a good film, a little spice won't hurt it. It might even tighten up some screws. King Kong and Narnia are superb films as they are.

Narnia was brilliant as it was, and, unlike LOTR, it didn't cut out large portions of the story - it simply isn't as detailed a story to begin with. There's no need for an extended version. I loved KK, but it was right at the borderline of being too long, so an extended edition would be overkill, and might cement the perception that Jackson's ego is even bigger than his talent. As for Underworld, it was good, if not as good as the first. The extended cut of the first one rounded out the story well, so I'd certainly be interested in seeing what an extended cut could add to it.

I read somewhere that after the spectacular sales of the King Kong DVD that Universal had in fact given Peter Jackson to release a Director's Cut for sometime in November. Narnia I heard had a director's cut, but I have no idea if it truly exists or will ever be released. As for Underworld: Evolution, I'm not sure. Most likely it would come out sometime around next may if they are following what they did with the original Underworld, but I expected there to be an Ultimate Edition of Mummy Returns when Scorpion King went into theatres and we never got one, so don't hold your breath. I'm holding off buying Underworld: Evolution just in case though.

I'd actually be interested in seeing an extended King Kong. Jackson talked about another version before it was even in theaters, and mentioned several scenes, and one was a re-creation of the classic swamp scene from the original, and that's something I'd really like to see. As for Narnia, I'm on the fence, don't need to see one, but to be honest I would like to see some extended battle scenes that up the ante from a PG rating. As for Underworld, I'm holding off on buying it as well, and I really hope they don't make us wait till May...
