Is anybody ever going to get The Magnificent Ambersons out on DVD? Does anyone know why it hasn't been released? It seems a fair number of Orson Welles' films have found their way to DVD but not this one - at least not yet. Is it a rights thing? Finding the definitive version? Misalignment of planets?

Interesting. Thanks for the link. Sounds like it will be a while yet before we see a Region 1. While a region free player would be nice to have, in this case it sounds like I'd just as soon wait for Warner's Region 1. It seems the Region 0 and 2 versions leave something to be desired - though I'm sure they're passable.

:p Yeah, I might need to dig up my (older) Criterion LaserDisc of this title, as it's been so many years since I last viewed it! (although I did watch THE DEVIL AND DANIEL WEBSTER Criterion LD a few months ago)

As that dvdbeaver.com review states, give Warner time to prepare a new remastered version of THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS (like they did with the excellent KING KONG Box Set - a major collectible!)

NOTE: Warner reps have stated in a chat - "We're still looking for better materials on AMBERSONS. We waited for KONG and KANE and it was worth it. It will be worth it for the AMBERSONS, and yes, we will release JOURNEY INTO FEAR when we do AMBERSONS." [from dvdbeaver.com website]
