First of all I want to thank you all for your feedback on the new site update.

This update marks a new era for DVDTOWN.com. What may just look like cosmetic surgery has in fact been one of the greatest undertakings ever done on the site. The entire database structure of the site has been rewritten and not a single line of code has been reused.

We had two reasons to do these dramatic changes. One was performance and speed of the site. As the popularity of the site grew the speed of the site fell. We are stilling working on updating some third-party code but we like what we have seen so far in terms of speed increase. The second reason was that we had a lot of ideas to new features but felt they were to complicated to implant on the old structure. We now have a secure and stable platform to build these new and exciting features on.

Lastly I want to make it clear that we are not stopping here. We hear what you say and will use the next weeks to bring back the things that did not make it for launch. So please bare with us as we clean up and remove the last building dust.

Thanks for your patience and support.

I had noticed the site lagging more and more. The site is deffinitely faster now althought that is somewhat offset by the additional navigations required.

I look forward to seeing the rest of the changes over the next couple weeks.

Cheers,

Henning,

Is there anyway you can get the "My Town Wishlist" back up and running, sooner than December 11th? I have family members that would like to look at my wish list for Christmas present ideas. With the way that the Christmas season is with shipping times, and warehouse DVD stock, if my family wanted to order online on December 11th or later, chances are the gifts wouldn't arrive in time for Christmas.

Thanks,

- Josh

Message Board > DVDTOWN.com > DVD players

I believe the path menu bar (or whatever) (see top line) should contain the corresponding hyperlinks.

Wow! I've been gone too long!

The site looks great from first impressions, guys. It's always been awesome, but whoa! Excellent work. Once again, DVDTown raises the bar, and I'm blessed to be a part of it!

Sean (...now what part that is, I'm not so sure. maybe I'm a cog for a cog or something...)

Yes indeed it is much faster compared to the old one.
I loved the previous version, since for years it was a daily routine . When comming in the office I checked my mail and dvdtown.com. But I am sure I will get used to the new version. We have expected it for quite some time now, but it was worth of.
If I may advise somethng , I think that subjects of the topics(right side when on the menu od Message bord) should be pointed in much darker colour than this pale blue, which is not very pleasant for eye.

One thing that I did notice is that when I use Firefox and view message board threads, the links on the right side of the page often covers part of the message text. I don't have this issue on internet explorer. For example, see the following:

It's a problem when I open the site with IE. It pop up a mesage that there is some bug with it. On the contrary, I have not any problems with Mozilla Firefox, it is fine.
It never occured before to have a problem with I.Explorer when opening any site.

The new site is very well designed, faster and cooler than ever. Navigation is intuitive as in the previous version. It works perfectly fine on both Firefox 2 and IE7. I love the new look and feel, it was about time. Looking forward to be able to use My Town sooner than later.

Good work guys!.

Couple of things.

1. Is there still a contest section

2. The DVD Easter Egg section is much less responsive than the previous incarnation. Previously one could use the list all and be able to quickly browse all of them but now it takes forever to load and is extremely memory intensive (though this applies to the site redesign also so perhaps it is by design).
