I'm a big fan of DVD Town but I have to admit that I was quite put off when My Town went down. I'm glad it's back up and running, but while it was down I decided to see what other options there were for keeping track of my DVD collection.
This suggestion is for those fans of DVD Town who are obsessed with their DVD collections, as I am. It is by no means a recommendation to stop visiting, viewing, reading or adding to the content here at DVD Town.
That being said, you might want to check out - EXTERNAL LINK -
It is a completely free way to catalog your entire dvd collection and includes wishlists, ordered DVDs, recently watched DVDs and a plethora of statistics that would make any DVD fan happy. I am not affiliated with the site in any way, other then becoming a recent member when My Town was down. I'm not try to sell anything. This is merely a recommendation for those people who love to keep track of their DVD collections, right down to the smallest detail.
However, it is NOT a DVD review site. Just keep coming back here to DVD Town for, in my opinion, the best and most comprehensive collection of professional DVD reviews around.
Ok, that's all. Just wanted other fans of My Town to have a chance to discover what I did. It really is too bad that My Town was down for so long, and that it still has some bugs and features to be worked out, but I'm sure there were good reasons for it. Check out dvdspot.com and I you won't be dissapointed.

I can't seem to find a way to edit that previous post, now that I've re-read it and discovered a few grammatical errors. Oh well.

Silly question, but don’t you think anyone interested in an alternative is smart enough to google it themselves? Yes I know that was rude, but so is going to another site plugging alternatives.

Why not utilize both? I have three different collections online. There are things I like about each one of them.

Obviously the tone and intent of my post was missed.
I think DVD Town is a great site and I love their reviews. You can't deny, however, that the 'My Town' feature has been seriously hampered the last several months. And I know I'm not the only user who feels that way, judging from the numerous topics posted about it.
I wasn't trying to be rude by "plugging" another site. First of all, DVD Spot and DVD Town are not really competitors. DVD Spot does NOT do reviews and does NOT provide up-to-date news and information on DVD releases. DVD Town and DVD Spot are two different sites provided two different services. My only suggestion was that since the 'My Town' feature of DVD Town (which is a small feature compared to DVD Town's overall function) was not working properly that perhaps DVD Spot would be a nice alternative for all those users who have been posting about wanting to update their collections and wishlists.
Relax. It was a simple suggestion. That's all. No one is going to "leave" DVD Town for DVD Spot they are not the same kinds of websites.
As for your comment about people being smart enough to do it themselves that's a pretty lousy attitude. Are you saying that you would never offer advice to anyone or help someone out because they ought to be smart enough to do it themselves? Nice attitude.
As for having multiple collections on the net great idea! Then consider this topic "Additional sites for DVD collectors" instead of "Alternative to My Town".

We are now 100% behind My Town and will continue to improve on it on a weekly basis. We will post a new update tomorrow.
