The 65" looks sweet but I gotta say the cabinet on the D62U series is nicer. Ah well the specs on the R series look great. I hope this link works...

Yeah, this info was announced in January, at the Vegas CEShow and subsequent press release - - EXTERNAL LINK -

So now we get the specifics for the initial Japanese sets, with the same for the USA market to arrive by early summer, and other worldwide regions later.

As I stated here last year, I'm looking to upgrade my current Aquos LCD display to a '07 Sharp 1080p model (at least 46 inches or larger) - OR - I might consider the forthcoming 1080p Panasonic plasmas (which will be in 42-inch, 50-inch, and larger models), as announced by Panasonic last month.

I've actually held off watching some of my 23 HD-DVDs until sometime this year, because I want to see them for the first time after I've upgraded to a newer, larger 1080p set.

Note: today, I'm noticing that dvdtown seems to respond faster than ever :-))

I'm not looking forward to the new Sharps ($),
but I'll take Hendrix's old Aquos LCD display-
winning the first CONTEST on the new and improved DVDTown.

LOL nice one MRA :p Somehow I doubt he will give it away though :) Hendrix I'm waiting for the summer also to buy. I was gonna buy one of the Sony SXRD's in Dec but I just don't like the black levels on it which I guess is a weakness of LCD projection. The current Sharp Aquos 1080P's (D62U) have great contrast ratios so I'm guesing the new ones will pop even more. I'm still undecided between an LCD panel or plasma. I've been reading some good things about upcoming plasmas including the Panasonics so I guess we'll see. I'm looking at getting a 60" but a good 50" will do :)
