Oh, so THAT'S what that is.....thanks for pointing that out...
*************************************************
A few notes about the DVD:

1.) A few smudges are still left on the print we found:
-Scene where Bert listens to Banks singing woes after "Step in Time:
- small black smudge on Bert's left collar that flashes quickly...
-Scene where Banks walks to the bank at night after leaving the house
- small black dot appears near second tree on the left

2.) No mention about Authur Treacher being later the developer of his famous Fish & Chip business

3.) The Exclusive Archive disc, while the rougher print, actually shows the complete 1.66 frame information, while the 1.85 Restored LD/Gold DVD edition hard mattes the images, cropping a little top and bottom (as is consistent with this type of theatrical exhibition). However, THIS new DVD edition goes one further and causes more confusion, presenting essentially an image closer to that 1.85:1 version of the film, but with cropped off areas left and right to create an “original theatrical aspect ratio” 1.66:1 frame, but actually meaning that we lose a sliver from the 1.66 to 1.85 formatting anyway, plus a not so little amount left and right. Very odd, and again annoying, since even though this is basically incorrect framing..

So, do we have the FULL WIDESCREEN VERSION here or is it cropped?

Hey, thanks for all your posts re this subject...
I didn;t mean to start a LONG one....

OK, so (in layman's terms), what are we missing/not seeing in full from the
new Poppins 40th in terms of screen ratio?

What's cropped on THIS version vs the OTHERS (i.e. GOLD Edition, Laserdisk, etc)

Thanks again!

I wish I could tell you, Shookie, but after I got the new 40th Anniversary Edition, I gave my old DVD copy away. When I compared them, however, I didn't note any difference in screen size, just a difference in deepness and richness of colors.

Thanks John -

If anyone CAN compare ratio/print of "Poppins" on all previously released discs,
do send your analysis here

Also, this new 40th edition does NOT have the original Buena Vista start,
but includes it at the very END of the bonus feature "The Gala Movie Premiere"...odd
