I had a great system with DVD Decryptor, DVD Shrink, FixVTS and all the rest. I also had Nero 6 as a OEM install and it burned all DVD’s fine, which played on every machine I had. I bought a new, faster machine with (ugh) Vista Home and now none of the Nero stuff runs on it. I downloaded IMGBurn and it run and burns BUT the DVD’s will not play on my Sony Players. I tired every which way to get this right. The next thing is to buy a new HD and set up the new computer with XP Pro and dump the Vista. Any tricks to fix this mess before I spend lots of money?

Do you still have your old machine? You could always return the new one, get your money back, and buy a new machine with XP installed.

Or you could reformat the hard drive on your new machine, install XP, and re-install all your old programs.

Or you could do what I just did: I upgraded to an Intel Dual-Core 6700, an ATI 1950 graphics board, and 2M of RAM, and I used my old hard drive with XP on it. It required that I use the original XP disc in order for the system to find all the new drivers, but it worked fine.

After I upgraded to Vista, this knid of software i’m using are Xilisoft DVD Creator(DVD burning) and DVD Copy Express(DVD copying). They work well under Vista, but a little bit problem about the interface. For example, when DVD Creator starts for the first time, u can’t drag to add files, but it’ll be okay after restart the program. If u need both, I suggest u choose Xilisoft DVD Maker Suite with 30% off.

Why change machines. Can't you just make a partition and use both XP and Vista?
