That's what my old Sony (notice Sony rhymes with phony) started to do that before it died. You could try cleaning and it just might help for a short while, but be aware your machine is in the first stages of a slow death. And if you consider taking it in for repairs, for what it would cost to do that, you'd be better off buying a new player.

Thanks for your replies. Had a feeling it had died as i couldn'nt load the cleaning disc! Just wanted a second opinion.:)
