I have some used DVDs in pretty good condition I am looking to sell. I would like the prices I give the DVDs to be realistic as to the title. Is there a site that can offer the going rate of used DVDs?

tim,
nah, vampire can sell directly on amazon.com. anyone can. in fact, it's the best place for people to get rid of unwanted stuff. the bidding at ebay is dumb...plus, even if no one buys your stuff, you have to pay ebay a fee. not so with amazon.com. (Y)

I have an inkling to sell online though I'm always uncertain how to proceed. Buying is so much easier as everyone knows. Point, click, buy, wait for mailman. For me, it figuring the shipping charges.

amazon.com charges a flat shipping/handling/packaging fee to the buyer. you just have to buy some padded envelopes, and it costs $1.59 to ship single dvds via media mail.

Eddie, actually the 1 pound rate is higher - $2.13 [since the new postal rate increase on May 14], and if you want assurance of "proof of delivery" you will need to add another 75 cents and the green "Delivery Confirmation Tracking" tag to your package. I usually add the tracking tag [which only provides delivery info - NOT point A to point B tracking] to those higher-value DVDs I've sold on Amazon, so as to have proof against a false "claim" of non-delivery (that buyers will occasionally try to do), since Amazon (and eBay) have various guarantees, and some people try to falsely use them.
Since 2000, I've sold several hundred DVDs on Amazon [very easy to list the condition and price], most of which were non-anamorphic (or pan-and-scan fullscreen) titles that I no longer wanted, after replacing with the remastered 16x9 enhanced widescreen editions... or discs that I just didn't want any longer, or even discs I wanted to receive a premium price for [rare and collectible].
Some I've sold at very high prices [several were never opened], as they had gone out of print. I sold a sealed copy of CONDORMAN [Anchor Bay/not 16x9 enhanced] for about $75, during the time it was out-of-print, before the remastered edition was released.
Obviously, it's beneficial to sellers if they have editions for movies that are out-of-print, as they can set a "market" price for a title of much demand to collectors. I received over $100 for a used out-of-print edition [Image Ent./1998 DVD] of THE MAN WITH A THOUSAND FACES [James Cagney/1957 movie] - a disc I purchased for $4 from a Houston-area Half-Priced Books store in like-new condition.
While Image presented it in the original widescreen, it wasn't 16x9 enhanced, and when I checked Amazon the few sellers offering it had sky-high prices. So I set my price accordingly and made the sale. Today, I see that a few sellers have this same disc, with the minimum price offered at $144.95!
Likewise, I received over $100 for a sealed, unopened copy of the BBC miniseries MOLL FLANDERS, the original unedited and longer edition [220 minutes, also includes added introduction & closing segments not included in subsequent editions]. I was able to pick up this same edition [used] for just $18, from an eBay seller who was not aware of it's demand value.
While Amazon takes a portion of your final selling price, as Eddie said above they don't charge a listing fee [60 days for a listing], compared to eBay which charges a fee regardless of whether it sells or not.

Amending my post above, you actually can use one of eBay's selling services that will NOT charge a listing fee. One of eBay's sites, half.com, has no auctions, and every item is a "buy-it-now" type purchase, and eBay only charges a fee once the item sells.
And from search results on the main eBay site, they often will provide a link/search option at the bottom of pages for the user to check their half.com site for the same item. Of course, on eBay's search-results pages, the main site and sellers get the best positioning, before they provide a possible link to the same item on half.com [if it's for sale there].
"half" doesn't mean anything, as you are free to set any price for the media products sold on that site [books, DVDs, video games etc]. It's traffic is nowhere near as large as the main eBay site [a few years ago eBay hinted it might fold the site, but changed their mind]. You use your same eBay ID and password. I think the main URL is - EXTERNAL LINK - - //half.ebay.com
