Hmmm...
I hope this serves a real purpose in the movie and they're not doing stuff like this just to promote toy sales.

The last Batman franchise lost a lot of steam because it started gearing itself toward merchandising aspects. I have faith in Nolan to sidestep this issue (fingers crossed), but I'm not so sure I have faith in Warner Brothers to do the same.

Yeah, but remember when WB unveiled the new Batmobile for the first time, and everybody thought it looked dorky? Turned out OK. At least this Batpod looks pretty cool.

John,
That's kind of my worry. If the Batmobile looked dorky, it's because it was tank-like, and not sleek as we had come to know it to be. Going for a more gritty, realistic approach? Fine by me, and it proved them well.
This design is so sleek and, quite honestly, non-realistic in its design, that it worries me that it's more for young boys on the toy aisle than an old coot like me hoping for another semi-realistic take on the Dark Knight.

Pesronally, I think it would be more realistic if the next movie has Bruce living in a single-wide, mobile home on top of his burned down mansion. Maybe have him grow a beard with a beer-belly to boot. During the day he watches the Speed channel and enjoys reruns of Nascar. Yep, some real life changes is what would attract me to see the new movie.

Tim,
Perhaps we could have a hybrid sequel? Batman: Talladega Knight?
After falling on hard times, Bruce takes on sponsors and becomes one of the hottest names in NASCAR, only to find out he's lost the dark edge that served him so well. Now, he must look up his long-forgotten mentor, Ricky Bobby, and together they set out on an epic adventure to recapture their former glory, babes, and a silver racing cup. To drink beer from, of course...
But a single? C'mon, there's got to be at least a little money left for a double-wide...
sean (...me? i can only afford a half-wide...)

Sean,
the single-wide makes it more attractive for if he get's busted on the TV show "Cops". Imagine, they come over to find a drunk Bruce and he's accused of beating on his girlfriend, Rachel. Admit it, a single-wide would be a great setup for some classic reality TV. (=
