underground film....strange dvd release

Unspeakable, the underground documentary about a satanic priest/native american/ trickster/ artist /wierdo is coming to dvd. The film has screened in underground venues around the world and in several underground/international film festivals!) and is the most talked about independent (truly independent) film to hit dvd this year.

I enjoy doc's a lot... but that one looks and feels more like a cheeeeeeZE promo for membership done by someones lawyer ha, ha, ha... I'm sorry you were to drunk to no better than to hire the blind-mulit-man for your defence, THX..:-}

Okay Listen....This is not spam. The subject of my film is not a lawyer. I am not a Satanist. I made a DOCUMENTARY film. I am going to respond to all of your cynical tirades now...I made an INDEPENDENT film. It is not for everyone. But I have a masters degree in filmmaking and the damn movie played in 6 film festivals and screened in 7 countries. It has mediocre production values because I was very poor when I made it. But Listen up....the obnoxious tones all of you have taken just because an independent director actually comes to these sites and lists his movies is really unfortunate. It's like you are only willing to accept a film if it has been slickly advertised to you. I am not spamming. I am listing my film because all of the distribution channels have been taken over by monopolies and there are almost no avenues available to the TRUE independents out there. Do you all even realize that 98 percent of all the crap that gets packaged as "alternative" or "underground" is put out by some corporate subsidiary masquerading as the little guy (aka ME!) Since advertisers have pretty much brainwashed the masses into only looking for the next big blockbuster, people have become downright disgusted by the idea of an original concept. If a film doesn't immediately have a familiar feel, then no one wants it. Look at all the sequels being made. I think this is dangerous. Society has allowed the corporation to placate us...to not ask questions. Well that's not healthy. And if you don't agree with me, look at the MORON who is this country's president and ask yourself how he got elected a SECOND time! Seriously...there are real world consequences to not caring about truly alternative voices...to silencing them with disgust and dismissal. Who does this hostility serve? The multiplex and the blockbusters...the megacorporations. Not FREE THOUGHT. All of your animosity is a disgrace to personal liberty, creativity, and the potential of one individual's ability to have a genuine conversation (through film) with society. I thank you in advance for your reconsideration of my film.

in your first post, why didn't you simply state that you are the director of the movie? instead, you wrote in the third person, making you sound like a publicist. please try to understand that the way that you presented yourself made it look like you were a paid shill.

As Eddie says, there was confusion about your initial post. The "animosity" we expressed was directed mainly toward what appeared to be your spamming a movie on us. However, as you are the filmmaker, we welcome you and your film and apologize for any misunderstanding.

Distribution is changing and physical media is slowly starting to die. It's called the internet.
Music marketing, due it's faster consumption, is always ahead in the digital era. iTunes is the 3rd biggest seller in music. No.1 and No.2 are "brick and mortar" shops. 33% percent of all the US hits these year (Many of the indies) were direct-to-web releases! No discs, no covers, no jewel boxes... just 1's and 0's. (Apple CEO During the latest keynote he gave for the launch of the new iPod)

Instead of coming here and bombshell us with all this "gorilla-marketing campaign" you started, why don't you just post the (truly) damn thing online and make money with no middle-men ?
Live off advertising or smt. Besides, what u really want is as many people to see your film. Well, if it's good, and it catches on, you can make a name out there for yourself and get a paid gig or smt.

Even real-life production companies are starting to understand the importance of the net and the new ways of distributing content. Myspace is launching it's own tv-series soon and many companies based in LA are buying studio space with aim to use it for internet content. It seems the "YouTube" decade is starting.

I'm telling you this because, i , as a consumer, would never buy something with a) a trailer like that and b) something with a cheesy dvd cover made on photoshop and screenshots in full bleached-out DV splendor on the back! For me "countless screenings in underground cinemas" means a movie that nobody cared to pick up and properly distribute because it's simply not good enough.
I Mean, there are countless festivals and studios are keeping their eyes open. Good stuff are finding their way to cinemas most of the times nowdays.

He got elected (both times) because enough NON-morons chose to vote for him. Regardless of his political record [highs and lows], anyone who decided to vote for President Bush were sane, and not because of being a "moron". Likewise those that chose to vote for John Kerry, Al Gore, etc, also were not morons.

No, the "morons" voted for Ralph Nader, and Ross Perot :-)) JUST KIDDING!!!!!

As for documentary filmmaking, I rented a great one recently, THE EYES OF TAMMY FAYE, which peaked my interest because of her recent death and media reports.

But the subject of this thread's "documentary" film?? Looks kind of moronic. I'll pass on it.

I apologize if I offended you with my first post where I mentioned "my lawyer." It was a joke, and a poor one at that. Of course you have every right to market your film and, in general, I have no problem with alternative expression, independent films or anything of that nature. I work in a University setting and I live very close to Salem, MA. Trust me, I see a LOT of unusual stuff around here. But let's get one thing clear: If I don't agree with someone, I do not call them "morons." Alternative expression can take many forms and sometimes people use that freedom of expression to manipulate the system: the MIT student who had a fake "object d' art" which kinda' resembled a bomb on her t shirt at Logan Airport in Boston, Move-On.org and the NY Times belittleing a man who is dedicated to preserving their very rights, the President of Iran speaking at Columbia University while Americans are dying because of his policies [including the daughter of a friend of mine], and so on. I wish you the best of luck with your film. I won't see it, but that's my right. Rant over.
