I don&#39t know about you guys, but those 3&#45D glasses give me a headache after a couple hours. I kind of wonder how this will take off or whether it will become novalty after a while.

I was really interested in this technology, especially with the resurgence of 3D movies coming out but I saw a review on it and although the 3D effect is suppossed to be real good you need an external drive to make it work. Meaning you have to have a computer with a special graphics card. Im sorry but this is tech that is probably years away from going anywhere near mainstream. I would rather wait for the flat panels that can do the same thing. Still hope they continue to work on it, it would be cool as hell to play Halo in 3D, Have a warthog run you over in3D, wow

I remember Sony had these glasses that were used as a visual screen and they were supposed to be all the rage. I bought them, but then I returned them because although they were different, I still didn't really like them. I'm not sure if they have newer improved models now, but to me they were basically just a novelty item that didn't really have a standout picture at all.

Hopefully the 3-D hardware will be better, but it's still a waiting game.

Apparently they did the Star Wars movies in 3-D and they were impressed (George Lucas and who ever else saw it). I don't know if they had to watch with those corny white-framed "glasses" but I read that they're gonna release the movies in 2008 in 3-D.

Actually I just found the article...

Quote:
"The staffers put on pairs of thick glasses and watched as clips from Star Wars were played. Suddenly the screen itself seemed to dissolve away, as scenes stretched out toward the audience. Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi's faces grew closer to viewers as the characters prepared to chase a would-be assassin. Pod cars buzzing in the background really appeared to be hundreds of feet away ... Soon, the Jedi Master himself came in. George Lucas sat down, put on the glasses and, within a few minutes, passed judgment: 'I'm sold! I'm sold!'"

There's a bit more, and the article highlights a couple other big-name directors, and some major companies (including ILM) and the technologies being used to turn many movies (not just Star Wars) into big-screen 3D films.
