Show producers will re-design the 'indestructible super car' in consultation with major car firms.
An insider says: 'Special effects have moved on so much these days it's the perfect time to bring back the show.'
'Kitt will obviously be massively updated as the kind of stunts it used to perform in the old days just wouldn't cut it today.'
No, Hasselhoff will not star

I'm a big Knight Rider fan and have heard stories about a big screen movie for quite awhile now. Hopefully something will come of it. I prefer a movie franchise over a new television series because we've already done the tv series and that failed miserably (not the original show, the 90s version). If they go the comedy movie route, they can cast Will Ferrel as Michael Knight. Or, it could be something serious and cool with no campiness.

It's bad enough they brought back the Bionic Woman and now they're bringing this back! More proof Hollywood is simply out of original ideas.

It gets better...they're making an Iron Man movie AND!! a Justice League movie. I read somewhere (I think it was MSN) that Christian Bale and Brandon Routh are definitely not going to be in Justice League.

Yes, Bionic Woman is a remake of the campy, lame late 70's show that was a spin-off from Bionic Man. It was a crowning achievement of Hollywood at its worst, and I find it strange that they'd even consider resurrecting it. Nevertheless, my opinion of Knight Rider is no better. Like movies, television is about 90% crap and probably always will be. Sadly, though, Hollywood caters to the audience that gets excited over bringing back old shows -- or turning old shows into films -- clear after they jumped the shark years ago. Apparently fresh ideas, new writers and new formulas are too much of a risk.

There's no need to waste time and effort thinking up new crap when you can simply recycle old crap that is "new" to younger viewers. Plus it has the advantage of being part of "pop culture" and therefore has "nostalgic" value even to viewers who never saw the original show in the first place.

Knight Rider pwns any of the competing television shows of that time. You heard it here first.
