Good for HD DVD. Bad for Xbox 360 hardcore fans that keep upgrading their system only to find there's a better one coming out yet again.

Like I said in the other thread, Microsoft REALLY needs to address the red ring of death and the overheating issues more than anything.

I am a hardcore Xbox fan even if I also own a PS3 and a Wii.. I own my original lauch premium and an Elite. I know they have a heating problem. But I have not got the ring of death.
That said I still believe that HDDVD and Bluray are flash in the pans in HD movies I think downloadable content is the future of HD Movies. I wouldn't be suprised if this rumor is true that it will have alot more features to make that happen. Microsoft and Toshiba are in for the money and from what I have read just lately I think we will see this formate is just the stepping stone to a totally discless formate for gaming and movies..

While I agree that downloadable content is cool I prefer a physical copy. I like the box art, booklets etc. I also like the fact I can loan it to a bud or I can take it places. I think those physical aspects will keep it alive. This isn't like I-pod to cds, where you can still take it places (in some instances it could be the same, but not your big screen/surround like at home). I do not expect DLC to affect movies nearly as much as it did cds.

i have a great elite. i love it. no problems at all. i dont mind newer versions of things coming out.
(if is true ....not a rumor) i like having options to upgrade.
right now my elite and hd drive (with black cover) look very nice at my place. but if a new system has other advantages besides the built in drive. i might buy that. who cares. i got all my boxes in good condition, mine will make a good gift, or theres always ebay.
wasent sony talking against the 360 because it had too many versions??? and now they're releasing a "lighter" ps3 for cheaper? haha is all about options options options
EDIT: by the wait, i bough the black skin for the hd drive for only a few bucks on ebay, and let me tell you is worth it. Looks cool, great matterial, sticks and unsticks and doesent damage the drive. just in case someone was thinking about it.
