Well, I'm definitely not implying I would rather see Sony's SPIDER-MAN 3 on Blu-ray to outsell the HD-DVD of TRANSFORMERS. But, if it indeed does end up selling more over the next few months, then you should accept the results - no "bloating" by Sony will be needed.

And unless there's an overseas HD-DVD release of the Spider-man films, the only way currently to view these in high-definition is with a Blu-ray player, by purchasing or renting the discs [which I mainly do].

This hi-def format war is going to last quite some time...

I am sure hoping that Blade Runner transfers well. Lets just keep our fingers crossed, this may be a SLEEPER hit for HD DVD.

Blade Runner will sell well with the older HD DVD crowd. It is not the type of film younger folks like these days. It requires too much THINKING. I doubt if it will be a run away best seller.

And I too hope it transfers well. The two versions I have are awful!

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/Paramount/Disc_Sales/Disc_Sales:_Blu-ray_Squeaks_Weekly_Win_Against_Transformers_HD_DVD/1109

"As we've previously reported, earlier this week Paramount issued a press release projecting record-breaking first-week sales of 190,000 units. Home Media Magazine disputes Paramount's numbers, estimating the actual number of units that sold through to consumers as closer to 115,000."

Here, is not the article corrected? Mr. DVDTOWN in HD DVD camp.

Corrected? Based on one other source's opinion?

The report on the above link concludes with...

For its part, Paramount continues to stand by its original numbers, telling Deadline Hollywood that they checked and double-checked their figures before issuing last week's press release, and that "everything we said is 100% accurate."

So there is a dispute between the official studio, Paramount, and a video news resource, Home Media Daily. Until there is definite proof otherwise, the sales info is not in need of "correcting". Just my 2 cents, and I don't even own this film (yet).

Home Media Magazine (which is apparently very bluray biased) doesn't realize is that their source who gave them the figure of 115,000 didn't count Walmart sales, I believe it was Walmart anyway. Why would they do that? What an incredible convenience I wonder what else their source didn't include

I'm not very impressed with Home Media Magazine at all. When this news first came out, I even went and checked out their website because I thought they were going to be a dedicated and fact-based news venue.

I was wrong.

Right from the first page, I immediately noticed the Blu-ray favoritism so I will never believe anything that that load of crap reports.
