I bought Predator 2 Special Edition a few weeks ago, brand new, sealed in it's plastic. Last week I sat down to watch it, and the movie stopped and froze in several parts. It was to the point that I had to fast forward to get it to play, otherwise the read head on the player would go back and forth trying to find where the data left off. I let it do this for about 2 minutes before I got fed up and fast forwarded the movie until it began to play again. Fortunately for me, this is the only DVD I've ever had fail on me brand new. I've bought many used DVDs in the past that have had this problem, however, it's usually due to the disc being dirty, or having a smudge on it, which is usually easliy corrected. The Predator 2 disc appears completely flawless when examining the surface in the light. I can only assume, then, that it's a manufacturing flaw. Has anyone else had this problem with this disc?

I've had that problem on a crapy used disc, mainly rentals. If the disc is brand new then I'd attribute the problem to the DVD player. Usually this is a sign the lazer lense is going bad. How old is your player?
