Is there going to come a time on this site when dvds are no longer reviewed? Because I do not own an HD or BD player and probabley won't for a while and it would suck not to have those reviews. I know that sometimes I have to read a HD or BD review because there is no dvd review!

PS No matter what the HD or BD sales numbers are DVD sales will cream them every time. )

At DVDTOWN we review mostly what the studios send out. For example, I get almost an even number of HD and SD promo discs from Warners, only HD discs from Paramount, and only SD discs from Buena Vista and New Line. DVDTOWN will always review more SD discs for as long as SD discs dominate the sales arena. If you glance through our last 100 posted reviews, you'll see that about 60 of them were SD reviews, and the other 40 nearly evenly divided between Blu-ray and HD DVD.

DVDTOWN continues to review as many SD releases as we always have. It's just that now we also review high-definition releases because that is the new technology.

As a side note, I fail to understand why anything new instills such fear, dread, and sometimes anger in people. The people who support Blu-ray get miffed when we review HD DVDs and think we're slighting them. The people who support HD DVD get miffed when we review Blu-ray and think we're slighting them. The people who support standard-definition discs get miffed when when we review anything in HD DVD or Blu-ray and think we're somehow abandoning them.

We are NOT providing less coverage of anything, folks. We are expanding our coverage, reviewing everything we always covered and more. Don't begrudge the fact that we're offering readers MORE for the price of...free.

Sometimes you just can't please everybody. I've said this before, you guys do a great job on this site, especially with your reviews regardless of which format it was reviewed on. Sometimes I read the review just to see a subjective view on the story/plot, etc. They are so detailed in all aspects of the film that they really are excellent.

Keep up the great work guys. ALL OF YOU do a great job.

P.S. I even read the bluray reviews sometimes

P.S. # 2 I've read movie reviews in newspapers and online as well but...without making your heads swell too much...I find the reviews here much better.

And Falcon is not saying this just because he's the editor's nephew, either. Although it helps.

Of course, the free DVDs we send him help, too.

What, we have reviews here too? I thought this was just a site to talk about Transformers.

The beauty of having a format neutral site is you really don't have to please anyone. People that bitch about whether you appear slighted towards blu-ray or HD need to zip it and find somewhere else to go complain.
