Official Discussion for Saw IV.
There will be SPOILERS here. Discuss the plot, characters, continuity with the other films, gore, how much you hate it...whatever.
THERE WILL BE NO FORMAT WAR DISCUSSION HERE. NO SPECULATION ON THE EVENTUAL UNRATED, THEATRICAL OR DIRECTORS CUTS ON STANDARD DEF DVD OR BLU RAY. We want everyone to be able to participate here and not have HD or Blu Ray arguments.
News: Saw V and Saw VI are being filmed together, like Lord of the Rings or the last two Matrix films.

I can't wait to see this. I find these movies entertaining, not scary at all but entertaining. I will find myself wondering what I would do in those situations.

Ahead of my official review, I will say Williamson has at least one relevant point: too many competing story lines, too many flash backs. It reminded me of the show "Damages" in that way. I do think a 1/5 is a bit harsh, though.
The ending, which makes it clear the events of this movie run concurrently with Saw III, is near genius. I was starting to wonder about everything in the previous movie early on.

The only one I've seen is the first installment. I didn't think much of it and practically had it figured out before the end. I'm not sure if it's all that much a new twist for the horror genre but I certainly didn't find it impresive enough to make four more films. I'm mean, if they're going to keep milking this they might as well sell it to HBO as a mini-series, or something. To me it's just another horror series that will keep milking the boxoffice so long as the sheep keep coming. I've never been able to get into the whole thing (Halloween, Nightmare on Elm street, Friday the 13th, etc.) and don't understand why people bother. Oh well, to each his own, I guess.

But guess what, as dumb as the series has become, it still made 32 million dollars. So I guess we can see number 5 next Halloween. Originally that was John Carpenters premiss after he made Hallooween 2. He wanted to come with a new movie each Halloween, Halloween 3 Season of The Witch. But it bombed so he nixed the idea and just went with the sequels. And the funny thing, Season of The Witch has sort of a small cult following. Tom Adkins, a well known Pittsburgh native who still resides here, is in it. he played in a few early Horror movies as well as Leathal Weapon.

Mr. Biker
It's already been confirmed Saw V and Saw VI are going into production at the SAME TIME. Read the initial post in the thread.
Moreover, have you actually seen the movie? If not, you really can't judge how "dumb" it may or may not be. (The brains in a movie have NEVER dictated how much money it brings in. Look at PIRATES or SPIDER-MAN 3 for instance.) On the chance you have seen it, what was so dumb about it? This is a place for discussion, not drive by three word reviews.

Jason, dude get a hobby and relax. It is my opinion, and I know all about opinions. I just think that the original was so much more, the plot, the budget how much money it made without spending a ton. Look Jason try this, close your eyes, count to 3 and click your heals together and repeat there is no place like home, there is no place like home. LOL

Funny, I always thought movies were my hobby.
Anyway, back to the movie. $32 million for the weekend is just a shade off of that Saw III did last year ($33 mil, IIRC). Sounds like the franchise is alive and well.

That was my whole point that it is alive and well.
