(KP International) The Green Lantern could be the next superhero to fly off comic book pages and onto the big screen.

"To me, this was [one of] the last great comic book movies that hasn't been made," Greg Berlanti, creator of Everwood who has signed on to cowrite and direct the Lantern flick, was quoted by The Hollywood Reporter as saying. "It was a comic book with a real mythology that you would see in a lot of the space operas and the sci-fi books." Berlanti continued: "The danger and the fear from a lot of people is that it would be silly," he said. "In these post-Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings days, it's not any more fantastical than that. It's taken movies like that to make it feel as if a Green Lantern film is possible."
