Apparently Sony cares more about deception and money than actual truth. If you guys would be completely honest about the way things are going, then maybe consumers wouldn't mind paying a little more for a quality product. But spreading lies is just going to infuriate people, and may even contribute to some on the BD camp to switch sides.

I've said this before but Sony is not the only company in the world of big business that cares about the truth. They care about profits as any business should. The only consumers to get Infuriated are the ones that have a brain or they're gassy fanboys. The average consumer is a complete idiot (no offense) and they'll believe what any teenage BB employee with tell them as expert advice. The real truth is who ever can pull the wool over the consumer's eye is the one to win the race and it's a simple concept that has worked for decades in big business. Bitch about Sony all you want but you're just blowing gas in little 'ol DVDTOWN.

Damn! Dr. Raynor, I wanted to see Disney release one of my favorites - NEVER CRY WOLF - on Blu-ray, but it's not on that LIST. Buena Vista originally released it in theaters (and on LaserDisc, VHS and Beta in the 1980s), but the Anchor Bay DVD is now out-of-print. I've still got my Laser copy though!

I can understand that completely. However, I think it would be much better to approach this a different way. Rather than spending money on campaigns to spread half-truths and lies to blindside the consumer, why not just lower the prices of the product to compete?
Sony is often coming off as arrogant and cocky - and this is coming directly from that report of that BD convention. Resorting to dirty tactics like spreading false education is a sign of weakness - it's hoping that that will be enough to convert people. Personally, I find it a turn off.

Yeah, see that "2nd objective" is the BEYOND HIGH DEFINITION part of Blu-ray
1st objective is the movie in HD, and the 2nd objective is the "beyond" part, the "supreme" high-tech part of blu-ray (that HD-DVD already has, see). Isn't it cool to realize this?
...and 2008 is going to be the year of Blu-ray, see?

Precisely. They are making it sound like their video is much better (when 1080p is the same no matter which way you look at it), and they are making it sound like they have a ton of bonus stuff coming down the pipeline (which might be true, but you already have that kind of stuff on HD DVDs).
I'm all for "you get what you pay for" but currently I'm not impressed with Sony's stance on BD. And I'm not a Sony bigot either, I have a Sony TV, and had Sony MiniDisc and even a Sony desktop PC.
