Everyone get ready for the Sony spin-zone. They haven't released numbers because PR is busy spinning.

Paramount didn't release Transformers numbers until the 26th, IIRC. That's six days after the end of release week. Why don't we give Sony the same time frame?

Tim,

We both have all day, apparently. This is gonna be fun. And then next week with Disney (Ratatouille), the week after with both Paramount AND Sony (Shrek/Close Encounters)...and so on.

Some days I just wanna shake my head and give up on this instant news generation. Or the fanboys. Probably both.

honestly? So what? So what if the first day numbers are short and the first week numbers? We'll talk when the 12/31 numbers come out. What matters is who wins, not who is off to the best start.

"What matters is who wins" --Johnson316

And why exactly does it matter who wins? For PR bragging rights? Neither movie is really very good, and I doubt that either one is going to determine the course or outcome of the format war.

On the other hand, everbody likes to watch a good horse race, and this one seems as good as any for the fannies to enjoy. Besides, as the fannies get heated up, it'll give our official Fanboy Police something more to do, and we wouldn't want to leave them out of the discussion.

You're right. I'm sorry. I should have referred to them by their official title: The Fearless Format Fanny Force.

"Capt. Timmy of the 4F." Sounds like an old-time radio serial.

I don't see this as massive news... Yeah Spiderman 3 and Transformers are massive releases but theres so many more titles on each format the will be selling to. It's fair to say that Sony should have more time to release some figures, its still only a couple of days. The article makes it sound that these 2 titles (1 from each format) could make a massively huge diference in the format war when its not the case at all. There are so many factors that will win this war and it's not going to be down to the sales of a title on each format.

Ummm lets see Spider man 3 which is the same movie as 1 and 2 just repackaged or Transformers, a much more entertaining experience. Lets be realistic Transformers was just a much better movie = more sales.
