Thank you for the link, Tim.

A few other afterthoughts:

Some of the posts by these people are too long and too detailed to have been written spontaneously. The writers obviously have a great deal of research and information at their fingertips. I get the strong feeling that their main purpose is to ferment discourse, and they have been pretty successful in doing that.

I may be going out on a limb here, but I do believe theat the chance exists that we are looking at a concerted attempt by somebody to destroy the integrity of this forum. If I'm wrong, so be it, but I really think the administrators of DVD Town really have to take a good hard look at what is going on here.

Well, Henning and crew have a strong admiration for freedom of expression, so I wouldn't count on a banning of anyone with an opinion, even if it irritates the HD club (Wow! I didn't say fanboys).

I have to admit, it is strange how all of a sudden there is a small group of Blu-fans in the last couple days. Take notice that they've been members since Nov. 2007. Not to mention, shortly after the Blu-ray convention. Sony plants, perhaps? Anything is possible in this case.

tim,

these jokers can't spew their garbage at AVS any more, so they came here.

Tim and Eddie,

That's right, either they are refugees from AVS or they are industry shills. One or the other. One would not have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out. And why are they so quiet all of a sudden, after two days of this steady crap?

It really doesn't matter how BIG the storage blu ray can hold... since the movie platter is in READ ONLY FORMAT. Idiot member here named Bubblebathgirl, thinks the AVERAGE CONSUMER cares about that. NO ONE DOES. Last time I checked, us average consumers just want high def movies. Larger storage is a media-driven hype that's all screwed up, more in advantage for THOSE THAT CAN AFFORD, Blu Ray burners. Average consumer can't & will not pay over $500 for a PC Blu Ray burner.

It doesn't matter if that same storage can hold more features like advance dolby audio thingumajig, since NO AVERAGE CONSUMER will pay additional $$$ for A HIGH TECH receiver
, & take advantage of these new & "too early" audio features. Not to mention using the latest SURROUND speakers to optimize its function. More expenses. No thanks.

It doesn't matter how many times Sony sleeps with different studios, to get their backing on the blu ray format. The studios DOES NOT determine the next hd format. Average consumers determine the next hd format. I said it before & I will say it again: Given inflated NATIONWIDE gasoline price, that's driving the cost of living up the yinyang, including housing slumps, & increasing lease/rents in apartment dwellings... the AVERAGE CONSUMER (which comprise of at least 95% of this country) WILL NOT PAY DOUBLE for a standalone HD player, when they can get the OTHER BEST thing, for under $200.

Regardless of blu rays technical features (which NO AVERAGE CONSUMER WILL CARE FOR) that only hardcore A/V enthusiasts will understand, cheaper price ALWAYS prevail over EGO. Blu ray is too expensive to manufacture, which is A JOKE to sell for at least $400 as a standalone player, to THE AVERAGE CONSUMER today, cramped in household budget. IT IS UNREALISTIC. It will not sell.

Kmart just OFFICIALLY committed to ONLY SELLING standalone HD-DVD players. Why? Because it's cheaper. It's an HD player w/ NEW MODELS capable of 1080p format (a really stupid point that blu ray constantly pushed). Last but not least... Kmart knows that the players WILL SELL, given its cheaper price. The only blu ray player Kmart will now carry, is the one attached to the PS3. That's it. As for the movies, both formats will still sell at the branches.

Kmart knows the mentality of US AVERAGE CONSUMERS. Bubblebathgirl is AN IDIOT if he does not sees this... or just plain ignores the facts since he's a SONY FANBOY. Now that's even pathetic.

The standalone Blu Ray players will be the NEXT BETAMAX players, if IT DOESN'T MATCH the selling price of HD-DVD players this season. That's a fact.

Solution for Blu ray: LOWER THE FREAKIN' PRICE to maybe equal to, or just $30 above the regular HD-DVD standalone model. GUARANTEED the Blu Ray format will win. I'll even buy one if they break their EGO & go the reasonable road.

xplaytendo, you really need to take John J. Puccio's advice and "just try to remain calm enjoy your format of choice" http://www.dvdtown.com/messageboard/topic/5040/10/15

Acting angry doesn't help your cause. Just let the numbers speak for themself.

I suggest that every-so-often you check back with DVD Empire http://www.dvdempire.com/Content/Features/hidef_wars.asp or Blu-raystats.com http://blu-raystats.com/percentages.php if you want to see what the real score is.
