KissMeImIrishinHD,
Wow... Another conspiracy theory... Wait for it... Sony Plants... HERE!!! OMG OMG... LOL.. why would they need to sell another 12 players? Here's one for you - if you don't like it, don't read it
SteveAM,
Is it possible that one's gauge of what is too long and too spontaneous for a post is related to one's capacity? Not a cheap shot... really.. I'm just asking. We'll miss you.. but for future reference, if you don't want to track a thread, turn the feature off. WRT the integrity of this forum - not sure who it was that said they were going to start burning Canadian currency - also not sure who started posting pictures of garbage dumps, but I just figured when in Rome...
Xdresstendo,
Wow - Kmart exclusive HD... Nice... wonder if they'll have to change their PA system.. Attention BLU-LIGHT Shopper (yes shopper - singular..) not sure on their sales last 1/4 but I think they are heading down the commode. The last thing they should do is discontinue high markup items...
I don't think anyone is getting banned or forums being closed on this site anytime soon. There has been serious boost in activity here (since I showed up
) and the owners are getting more revenue... so much if fact that they may even pick up a blu-ray player AND smash a few HD-DVDs while they are at it...
All I've got one for you... A conspiracy for those who like plot twists - what if... what if I was the Henning M!!!! It's a possibility I suppose.. Anything is!!! Why I could also be Tadashi Okamura - just trying to stoke the fire in the legion of HD-DVD supporters - trying to increase the hatred of Sony... Why .. Why... I could even be you - have you seen your shrink lately - did you miss your meds? I may have

BluCanada, I like your comments, mildly amusing. YOU'RE AN IDIOT... but I like your comments, nonetheless. It sorta breaks the ice due to TENSION over A WASTED FORMAT WAR that should've been resolved a year ago.
Meantime, a major chinese manufacturing plant has comitted to make HD-DVD players for Wal-mart. Hmmmm, I'm bettin' that player will sell for the NORMAL price of $150 or less, and people will buy them . Why? because it's makes more sense than shelling out $400 for a blu ray. Last time I checked, Wal-mart is the signature trend, for what's going to sell to US AVERAGE CONSUMERS.
As for your conspiracy theory... you lost me on that one. As for the statistics the the IDIOT bubblebathgirl just CONTINUOSLY post for no apparent reason: USELESS.
Waste your spit & keyboard on this restless topic, as much as you all want, until this holiday season... come back next year around this time: LET'S SEE HOW BOTH FORMATS stand.

xplaytendo, why do you say statistics are useless, is it because they are not in your favor?

Bubblebathgirl, I stopped listening to you when you replied to my first comment, saying that the standalone blu ray players are better due to their LARGER CAPACITY for storage. THAT'S STUPID. You can neither write nor take advantage of the storage ON A READ-ONLY-FORMAT blu ray movie. GET A GRIP on reality.

xplaytendo, thanks for agreeing that Blu-ray has a larger capacity for storage.

I was worried when both formats came out at the beginning, and held off buying anything. When the XBOX $199 HD-DVD player came out, I bought one... and I've been using Netflix for movies - not committing to buying any movies while a war goes on.
Fact is, both formats have 1920x1080 resolutions and for the most part now they're using exactly the same codecs.
When Transformers came out, I bought it. And when the $98 Toshibas came out, I grabbed 4. One for me, and 3 for friends. I'll be buying Shrek 3 when it's out. These are former PS2 fanbois, who still haven't bought a PS3... And will most likely be getting XBOX 360s this holiday.
Having only my wallet to drive me (since technically both formats are basically identical to my HDTV), all my dollars have gone to the HD-DVD camp. If Disney would just come over, they'd get lots of my money too.
... and you can't use Sony's sales of PS3s is actually BluRay player sales... we all know that not everyone who raced out to get the PS3 even has an HDTV (or would benefit from BDs).
I projected at the beginning of this war that the most consumer friendly camp would win, and I'm feeling better enough now that I'll be building that HD-DVD disc collection now.

Bubblebathgirl, we can both agree on one thing: Blu ray format has MORE FEATURES it can store due to its storage. Having said that, the average consumer DOES NOT care. Otherwise, we would only have ONE format now!
The main reason... and the ONLY REASON why this WAR is still ongoing, is due to price. NOT STUDIO BACKING! Otherwise, Blu ray standalone players would be flying off the shelves. At the end of the day, after balancing their checkbook & paying the bills... Average Joe & Average Jane will conservatively decide whether they can afford a $400 (or more) hd player, or not... they can't. THE U.S. economy is in a slump from gasoline & housing crisis (that LITERALLY creates a ripple affect in all items sold today) which HOLDS these consumers from spending big bucks.
HD-DVD camp sees this AS AN OPPORTUNITY. Let the average consumer see the PREMIUM-PRICED blu ray, then veer their attention to the MUCH MUCH CHEAPER HD-DVD player (that EASILY FUNCTIONS in every way, as blu ray), & they will cough up $200 (or less) for the standalone HD-DVD player.
The Blu Ray player is it's own enemy. Not HD-DVD. Again, if the regular standalone Blu Ray player begins to sell for under $200 (would be really sweet if it happens this holiday season).... BLU RAY WILL WIN THIS FORMAT WAR... and I will buy one (or two) to celebrate.
Meantime, let Sony's ego run the tables... that $400 box will collect cobwebs, until the last $200 HD-DVD player is taken from Wal-mart's retail shelves.

shawnwc, I respectfully disagree, the PS3 is the highest selling Hi Def player to date. It is the reason why Blu-ray is winning.

This is back in January ... the PS3 has become even more significant (obviously) since then.
The prime reason why Blu-ray doesn't need to lower the cost of it's players is because of the PS3 selling so well and providing the public with the best Hi Def player with the best value.
xplaytendo, congrats on learning to use the BOLD tags so well ... nice use of ALL CAPS too!
