Is it possible that one's gauge of what is too long and too spontaneous for a post is related to one's capacity? Not a cheap shot... really.. I'm just asking. We'll miss you.. but for future reference, if you don't want to track a thread, turn the feature off. WRT the integrity of this forum - not sure who it was that said they were going to start burning Canadian currency - also not sure who started posting pictures of garbage dumps, but I just figured when in Rome...

No, not really, it IS a VERY cheap shot. A FEW of you have that down to a fine art. I'll agree that some of the pictures that were posted early on were over the top, and in the beginning it was done in humor, but this thread has gone way beyond that. "One's capacity" for what? Let's get something straight here: I have NEVER insulted anybody on this forum one way of the other, either in veiled or direct terms, and I don't plan to start now. Capacity, indeed. And one last thing: don't tell me what to do if I need your advice I'll ask for it. Remember, the moderators of this forum are firm believers in free speech. That's why you're still here.

Bubblebathgirl, there u go again with the PS3 logic. It's illogical. Average Joe & Average Jane DOES NOT WANT a PS3 in their home. They want an HD player. $400 is STILL $400... DOUBLE THE AMOUNT if they can pay a measely $200 (or lower) from the competitor.

The problem with your notion is this -which is shared by Sony, of course- that the AVERAGE CONSUMER will buy a $400 hd player. They will not. They didn't. They're still on the shelves. AVerage consumer DOES CARE for a $200 hd player... AND DOES NOT CARE for the PS3 system, since THE MAJORITY of the masses only wants the player. So they shell out $200 for the HD-DVD player.

You want stats? How about THE MAJORITY of PS3 buyers NOT USING their system to play movies, but to play games. That's a fact.

xplaytendo, then please explain to me why Blu-ray has outsold HD DVD 2:1 during 2007.

You can see the stats here at DVD EMPIRE http://www.dvdempire.com/Content/Features/hidef_wars.asp?userid=99366041405776

Wow! I was wondering what would happen to that page bar once it hit its max. This is a historic event for DVDTOWN! Biggest thread ever!

Those stats is past tense, bubblebathgirl, not to mention that those same stats HIDES THE FACT that most blu ray players bought, are by gamers attached to the PS3. Not standalone blu ray players.

Let's pause for a moment and set an agreement: After this holiday season, find some stats SHOWING TRUE NUMBERS of STANDALONE blu ray players sold vs. standalone HD-DVD players sold, for 2007.

You'll see the future HD format, from those stats.

Correction SteveAm,
You have insulted someone here... Suggesting that there are Sony plants a lurk is an insult to yourself. I would doubt highly if Sony were to employ such tactics... at this site anyway lol...

Obviously I play within the parameters... If I didn't my hide would have been banned by now.

XDressendo,
I would prefer if you called me a joker or jester actually rather than idiot, because an idiot lacks knowledge, sense or opinion... I obviously possess all of the above in large quantities, with just a dash of humor and a large pinch of modesty

xplaytendo, "those" stats show media sold percentages ... NOT players.

So, once again, I ask you, please explain to me why Blu-ray has sold more MEDIA then HD DVD in 2007.

You can see how Blu-ray has a 2:1 lead over HD DVD for MEDIA sold in 2007 here: http://www.dvdempire.com/Content/Features/hidef_wars.asp?userid=99366041405776

Bubblebathgirl. Again... you're not listening. Show me TRUE STATS of STANDALONE blu ray vs STANDALONE hd-dvd players sold in 2007, NOT MEDIA... since the medias sold HAS NOT DECIDED the next HD format.

You show me those TRUE HARDWARE STATS, and I guarantee you that you have your next HD format for the future.

PRICE is the driving force on these standalone players. Like the above TITLE of this thread states, if HD-DVD keeps these sales in motion (regardless whether they're old models, or not), and Blu Ray to keep a standstill price-quote of $400 (or more) on their standalone players.... HD-DVD WILL WIN.

Yes, I clearly see those stats, bubblebathgirl, but THEY'RE IRRELEVANT. You know why, because we're still DEBATING over this HD mess, and Blu Ray IS NOT (NOT BY A LONGSHOT) a clear winner.

Those media stats does not determine the next HD format. TRUE HARDWARE STATS (of standalone players sold) will give the right direction.

>shawnwc, I respectfully disagree, the PS3 is the highest selling Hi Def player to date. It is the reason >why Blu-ray is winning.

The link talks about Japanese consumer penetration from January 2007, almost a year ago.
