Bosshog7 I completely agree with you ... these people can't come to grips with simple statistics ... simple facts ... Blu-ray is winning now. Period.
We'll see what happens later ... later.

JSWELL, yes the PS3 does upconvert standard DVDs:
"The PS3 offers full HD 1080p output over HDMI. Its HDMI implementation is version 1.3-compliant which means it supports DeepColor as well as native pass-through of next generation audio formats - Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD Master Audio - to a compatible receiver or processor. Also, as of the version 1.8 firmware update (which became available during our review process)the PlayStation 3 also upconverts standard definition DVDs to 720p, 1080i or 1080p resolution over the HDMI connection. "

That's cool bbgirl, but I decided a while ago that I would skip this latest generation of game consoles. My last console was the XBOX. I just haven't been sold on any of the latest in terms of must have games or graphics, believe it or not. My first system was the Atari 2600, so I've been playing for a while. Anyways, I have about $300 bucks and would like to take the plunge into the high-def players 'cause movies is really what I'm into these days. What can I get for my money?

BTW, I just saw on the DVD Empire site http://www.dvdempire.com/Content/Features/hidef_wars.asp?view=1&userid=99366040796575 that for the week of Nov. 06th, Blu-ray is actually ahead of HD DVD ... it had been closer earlier in the life of this thread.
That's great to see, so Blu-ray has been ahead every week and every month of this year.
JSWELL, definitely get the $399 PS3. It's the newest and most powerful system with the best games plus it comes with a high quality Blu-ray player. If you want the latest and greatest get a PS3. Plus it is infinitely more reliable then any of the other consoles out there.
