Cellien good points!

And I also agree with this...

"Heck, you can't tell the difference between 1080i & 1080p on my 50" Pioneer plasma."

Definitely true! Plasmas (especially Pioneer, and Panasonic) produce such gorgeous HD images, that 720p/1080i looks just as good as 1080p, when viewed at a reasonable distance - 8 feet or more from the screen.

1080p plasmas are starting to drop in price, since many feel that it's not worth the premium over 720p models (the most popular of all HD displays). 1080p is growing (and will fall further in price), but right now 720p flat panels (in all sizes, both LCD and plasma) are the best-selling. Walmart and Target are now agressively competing at retail, with a variety of 720p models from Sony, Samsung, JVC, Toshiba, Philips, Vizio, etc.

Babble,

Funny how you insist that everyone read your links and use your stats as a guide to the end... And yet you acknowledge nothing that would give any indications of the contrary.

HD-DVD started strong... Lost some numbers when the PS3 came out... and is now proving it's ground. Go buy a couple hundred BR discs please. PLEASE.

Bubblegirl statistics are for losers. Want a stat, here's one: for every post topic on this site you have about 300 irrelevant comments on BluRay sales.

@Bubblebabble:

Even if they are from today (great!), they still don't apply to anything we were discussing or this topic of 90,000 HD-DVD players sold in 3 days. It's like you disregarded everything else everyone addressed to you and spouted some links like some machine. They are still USELESS, but just NEW and USELESS.

Cellien, the supposed 90K players were sold last weekend, their effect would have shown up already in the stats on DVD Empire. You would think people who bought them would buy HD DVDs also right?

Even with that supposed 90K sale, Blu-ray maintains it's significant lead.

According to DVDEmpire.com, this week Blu-ray has a 15%+ advantage in sales over HD DVD.

To clarify how this works, every week that Blu-ray has a sales advantage over HD DVD, Blu-ray increases their lead. As long as those percentages stay in Blu-rays favor, they are officially winning. Can you understand that?

Bubblebabble,

Did I once say Blu-Ray wasn't winning thus far? Do you comprehend that sales statistics change? Because I don't think you do, otherwise you wouldn't revolve your life and all your posts around some website's statistics.

Nielsen VideoScan High-Def market share for week ending November 4th, 2007

http://www.engadgethd.com/category/hd-dvd/

"So much for that trend -- for a few weeks there is looked like the HD DVD camp was making up lost ground on Blu-ray and even got within one percent of beating them. But, according to this weeks Nielsen VideoScan numbers, courtesy of Home Media Magazine, Blu-ray took the lion's share of the HD movie sales again this week with a 71% to 29% split (2.45:1)."

For the week ending 2007-11-04, Blu-ray had 71% of the Amazon.com sales while HD DVD only had 29%. Check back with the above link in a week to see how the supposed 90K HD DVD Fire-sale faces up to Cars & Ratatouille from Disney for Blu-ray.
