"PS3 is already ahead of where the 360 was after the same amount of time since launch, you can easily find links to that info on Google."

While that may or may not be true, the reality is that month over month (with the possible exception of one month this year when they firesaled the old PS3 60gb's) the xBox has outsold the PS3 by like 2-1 and the Wii by even more. Please explain how given that they are losing further and further ground to the xBox month over month and Wii how at any point the PS3 will win anything?

Its like the old Amazon pricing model. We will lose $1 on every sale, but make it up in volume. It just doesn't hold water.

Besides the point that really even if the PS3 WERE catching up to or had passed the xBox by a billion units, how the PS3 relates to the xBox has NOTHING to do with High Def format wars.

I have a prediction. Since Toshiba sold more players last weekend then my local convenience store sold Slinky's HD DVD wins.

Richard

Hahaaa "Bosshog7 I completely agree with you ... these people can't come to grips with simple statistics ... simple facts ... Blu-ray is winning now. Period.

We'll see what happens later ... later. "

This coming from the Blu-Ray camp as an accusation against HD DVD is just too funny. Is there any feature of BR that ISN'T COMING at some future point? How goes that profile 1.1 roll out by the way?

Bubbles "JSWELL, definitely get the $399 PS3. It's the newest and most powerful system with the best games plus it comes with a high quality Blu-ray player."

Best Games? Best Games? Ok seriously I am speechless and that is confusing. I have something to say about everything. I can't belive you came up with something (or simply copied a promo) that is so out there that I have no comeback. You rock, cheers,

"Love Hendrix!, I hope you're just being sarcastic ... but if you actually didn't understand what I meant ... let me clarify ... if the trends of the present carry over into the future Blu-ray will be the sole HD format by years end 2008 (analysts have already predicted this). Sure your HD DVD player might still work but it WILL be useless as studios will stop making media for it.

Shawnwc, that's the whole point ... the most important studios are siding with Blu-ray ... ie, Disney ... you shouldn't be "sad" you have any product. If owning HD DVD makes you feel sad then that is truly sad ... and you think HD DVD is more consumer friendly? LOL ... have you ever actually tried saying "HD DVD" quickly a few times in a row. HA!

But seriously, there are currently more of the LARGE studios ... the more significant ones, backing Blu-ray. Blu-ray has MORE titles out, AND has outsold HD DVD in 2007 2:1.

In case you don't believe me, you can see the engadgetHD article from Oct 24, 07 here: http://www.engadgethd.com/2007/10/24/blu-ray-nearly-maintains-2-to-1-sales-lead-over-hd-dvd/

Those facts along shown that Blu-ray is winning. It shows that the masses have already spoken, and this year they've chosen Blu-ray.

Clearly the same analysts that predicted HD DVD would be dead by Fall of 2007. Hey wait a minute?

"Cellien, you realize that a "fire-sale" is a BAD thing right?

You are presenting no facts to support your argument. While I am presenting clear statistics that show I am right.

Here's another recent article, about a week old, talking about the Blu-ray festival in Hollywood: http://www.homemediamagazine.com/news/html/breaking_article.cfm?article_id=11449

It's from an unbiased news source that states many of the advantages Blu-ray has. "

You mean like what Sony is doing with the 60gb PS3? Or is that a good fire sale and the Toshiba version is a bad one? We patiently await your windom on the matter.

"Cellien, the supposed 90K players were sold last weekend, their effect would have shown up already in the stats on DVD Empire. You would think people who bought them would buy HD DVDs also right?

Even with that supposed 90K sale, Blu-ray maintains it's significant lead.

According to DVDEmpire.com, this week Blu-ray has a 15%+ advantage in sales over HD DVD.

To clarify how this works, every week that Blu-ray has a sales advantage over HD DVD, Blu-ray increases their lead. As long as those percentages stay in Blu-rays favor, they are officially winning. Can you understand that? "

Right because:

* None of them are to be held as Christmas presents
* No one bought any movies in store since they would all rather go home, go online and wait a week for their movies
* etc etc
