Bubblenutts:

"If I get banned then that just shows that I was right all along about this being an HD DVD biased site that can't handle facts that aren't in their favor.

Either way I'm happy. "

Well if it was that easy all the freaking long, why don't you make yourself and us happy and just ban your freaking self already. Everyone wins. Nice and neat.

Cheers

I appoligize to all the regulars. I just couldnt take it any more. I see as I went along that you guys covered most of it off nicely yourselves.

For sure Bubbles and BluCanada are the first two of their kind I have seen at this site. We have always enjoyed a healthy debate here, but we have always been OPEN to that debate and accepting of others logic (Usually hahaa)

We may not always have agreed on everything, but I have always felt that people positions have been taken into consideration and weighed, contered and discussed with the truth or what we can best align on resulting.

These two are the first example of what you see on other boards constantely whereby all they simply do is troll BR propaganda and NEVER directly address anything related to HD DVD.

It is unfortunate they they will continue to polute the threads. We need an ignore function.

Cheers,

Richard

Richard,

I'm sorry you've been away so long. In your absence this thread did grow and grow with stats and repetitions of stats on both sides. Worse, it appeared that one or two new people were not quite aware of the civil discourse we try to maintain here.

In any case, the several people to whom you refer are now either gone or acting in a more controlled manner. I hope we can all get back to providing serious information on both sides of the format issue rather than simply arguing the same meaningless points over and over.

Let's keep the Message Board a place for discussion, not war.

Well said John. Richard it's good to have you back

I have a question for you guys. "Black Friday" is this friday in the U.S.? If so do you guys think it IS possible for HD DVD to reach 500, 000 stand alone player sales by the end of November as some sites are saying? How significant is that number anyway? Does it really mean THAT much?

I'm not trying to start a format debate or anything. I read somewhere (engadgethd.com I think) about the possibility of 500, 000 units being sold by November and I was wondering if that will really have any effect. Sure the more players in homes means more movies are sold down the road, I get that. After that does it mean anything? Is it enough to influence a studio to say go HD DVD exclusive or anything like that? I guess I just don't see it is a big deal although it is good for HD DVD.

No, next Friday the 23rd. It's always the day after Thanksgiving Day, which is always the fourth Thursday in November.

I hear rumors of the A3 on sale at WalMart as part of this Black Friday. Has this been confirmed?

If so anyone have any idea on the numbers that are being passed around? If so any idea of price?

If this is true, and it does seem reasonable as 1, Toshiba mosty certainly has to be happy with the last sales results at WalMart and would love to do that again as well as tighten the relationship there. And 2, Walmart can't be to unhappy to have moved all that inventory that quickly if the stories I hear are true then they must figure that another HD DVD sale will "bring'em in" just like last time.

Its to bad we can't see if the sale did much for Walmarts HD DVD movie sales. I have a feeling it did something, but nothing dramatic, but heck they could have been picked up to go on eBay as some reported. I figure many of these players are destined for under the tree and while we should see some media sales for under the tree with them, I figure the real impact of most of these players won't be fully felt until Q1-2 2008.

I figure if they get them to that <100 price point again they will move as many as they make available. Maybe even <150 if they include 300 & Transformers or Shrek the 3rd (Aren't two of thos packaged with the A3 now? or is it 300 and Kong?).

The bigger overall impact I think other than a couple days of big sales numbers (which isn't insignificant from a Warners perspective) is that it would be stronger and stronger indications that Walmart and Toshiba have a budding relationship for the promotiona and distribution of HD Media and hardware. That is the news if it turns out to be the case and I fully admit that it is still speculation at this point regardless of the circumstantial evidance to support it.

Cheap Chineese players offered at Walmart = BluRay bad dream, Inexpensive name brand Toshiba players offered at Walmart along with discounted media long term = BluRay worst nightmare.

Cheers,

Richard
