BluCanada: Her own posts said the links she gave for stats were compiled stats from Amazon sales. I can't make it anymore clear to you. If you distort that any further its obviously clear you are here to blow smoke up peoples asses. Tim, got an image?

bubblebathgirl:
http://www.gamedaily.com/articles/features/36-million-ps3s-sold-sony-profit-falls-68percent/70420/
and the Web address you yourself sited:
http://www.vgchartz.com/
They indicate that Sony shipped 5.5 PS3s world-wide, 2.26 of which came to America. This was not, however, the number sold. Understand, I'm not arguing for one side or another, and we can all agree that there are substantially more Blu-ray-capable players out there than HD DVD players. I just want to keep the stats straight.

Cellien,
Something is not common knowledge just because you say it is. Provide a link or no one will believe you, it's that simple. I mentioned Japan because some other poster mistakingly said that 360 was outselling the PS3 in Japan, this was easily proven to be false with a simple link.
According to the stats I provided, the US has already chose Blu-ray, so has Europe, and so has Japan.
khwiggins2,
Check out Wikipedia if you need a clearer definition of 1080p and why it is the best format available. Basically you see all of the information at once instead of having it split up over 2 frames. As a result 1080p gives you richer detail and an overall better picture:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1080i
As for the cost of the Blu-ray players, they are currently $399:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-BD-P1000-Blu-Ray-Disc-Player/dp/B000F99FDE
http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-40GB-Spider-Man-Movie-Pack/dp/B000XGJH1O/ref=pd_bbs_1/105-6610404-1168456?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1194474345&sr=1-1
Your general statements about Blu-ray players are simply wrong. You can not make sweeping statements like that as there are many different players. If you want to compare specific players then do that, otherwise you are simply wrong.
dguisinger,
Much like Cellein, nothing is common knowledge just cause you say it is. Provide proof or no one will believe you, it's just that simple.
You don't bother linking because you are lazy, and because you CAN'T link anything that would dispute the statistics that I have provided. That is because they are facts, and you are scrambling to come up with something to dispute them but it's just not there.
Nothing is flying off the shelves just because you say they are, provide proof, or no one will believe you, it's just that simple.
You have provided no proof to support your argument, which gives you little to zero ability to predict what might happen.
John J. Puccio,
The gamedaily link you provided is from May, a lot has changed since then. Sony has sold a lot more PS3s since May and we'll know how many once they release those figures - for now, you can use vgchartz to compare shipments for all consoles.
Thanks for agreeing that there are so many more Blu-ray players out there.

AVS just shut down HD DVD and Blu-ray forum due to fanboy from both side.
Please don't bring the war overhere.

wow, that would explain some of the hostile posts I've seen in the last day. Doesn't help that HD DVD had big news the blu-fans wanted to squash.

dguisinger,
The funny thing is, inspite of this "big" news you speak of, Blu-ray is still ahead 2:1.
