speaking of which, everyone always says Spidy 3 was worse than the first two. I only saw the first one what was so bad about #3?

For me it was the mix of characters. The share number of villains made the story messy and muddy.

Also, I find it hard for Spider-man to keep up his coolness. He has no gadgets and at the end of the Spider-man 3 you sat thinking that the real cool hero of the movie was the Green Goblin.

But don't listen to me. I found Spider-man 2 the only worthy movie of the trilogy and find the Batman and Superman movies to be much more entertaining in the superhero genre.

this going to be interesting now. Spider-man 3 sold like 130K copies and that does not include free copies with PS3. sony also made it clear that they shipped 400K Spidey BD discs. it outsold transformers. i take these numbers with a grain of salt but I am sure that HD-DVD boys will come out and say that Sony lied. let the fun begin

Oh boy, I can hardly wait until Mr. Blu Canada comes in here and bends the truth on Spiderman 3 not outselling Transformers. He will probably give us some info on how it outsold Transformers in Iraq or some other third world country.

It was expected that Spiderman undersold Transformers.

The movie was bad, period (yes, character development, the 'cool' Peter Parker , the ten thousand 'coincidences' , and the singing Mary Jane, ugh , and yes the green goblin was the coolest, and in my mind, he will be back from the 'dead' in the fourth movie). Spidey 2 is the best, followed by 1 then 3.

Pirates 3 was waaay better.

Transformers was the most entertaining of the three.

Hopefully they'll make it right in the fourth movie.

Look guys. These are the facts. Say Spiderman 3 did sell over 130,000 discs on blu-ray, and say Transformers sold 115,000, that would mean Transformers is not to short of spiderman (that is very close). Also Sony could be counting the Spiderman trilogy since it has Spiderman 3 bundled in(excluding the PS3 40gig bundle). With all those PS3 systems out there, they should of sold a easy 400,000 discs they supposly shipped. This goes to prove that Blu-Ray is not killing HD-DVD at all. Also if Parmount did sell over 190,000 of Transformers like they said, and is still the highest non nuetral format release, then studios will definitly be looking at that. In the end, the Blu-Ray version of Spiderman 3 should of sold out consideriing all those PS3 out there. This is not looking Good for Blu-Ray. (the sales figure is from Sony, just like Paramount did for Transformers. So it could be not true.)

Interesting.. with SOOOO many more supposed Blu-Ray players in homes (PS3) it's kinda sad it didn't outsell Transformers HD-DVD by default.

Warning to all users: BluCanada and bubblebathgirl are going to come here and go crazy when they wake up and get ready for another day of sitting around the house posting on forums while we are all at our jobs. They will also flood the comments sections with their fud and their links to blueray.com to prove points. Just a heads up. Mods - please take notice.

"Paramount says Transformers sold 190,000 units its first week in stores, but Home Media Magazine market research and studio estimates puts the actual number of units that sold through to consumers closer to 115,000."

http://www.comnetslash.com/2007/10/26/190000-transformers-hd-dvd-sales-unable-to-beat-blu-ray-sales/

Paramount exaggerated the sales figures ... the 190k is most likely shipments as apposed to sales.

As a result, Spiderman outsells Transformers!
"The 130,000 sold does not include copies given away as part of a Sony promotion to provide the title to those who purchase a 40GB PS3. Sony expects demand to increase throughout the holiday season, with 'Spider-Man 3' to remain a top seller."

http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=655

... and we all know Michael Bay wanted Blu-ray:

the 115,000 number doesn't take into account units sold via e-tailers, local chains, mom-and-pop stores, etc. at least paramount is talking about units sold, not units shipped the way that sony always does. not only is "units shipped" not the same as "units sold", it's actually worse if you just have a pile of crap sitting in stores gathering dust.

Posters is right though about that Home Media figure not including sales of certain stores. Apparently it didn't even include Walmart sales of Transformers. How convenient.

ranjan,

sony is the kind of company that quotes fake, make-believe, non-existent movie critics when advertising its movies. i urge you (and needs-to-take-a-bath-girl) to look up this string via google.com: "sony columbia fake critics".

Do you remember the debacle with "A Knights Tale"? Sony ate crow for quoting critics that didn't exist in their ads for the movie. Seriously Sony is the last company anyone should believe.

Everyone's got skeleton's in their closets ... this time, though, it's Paramount that "fudged" the sales figures ... which has now gotten HD DVD sites to report false information ... it's a messy domino effect.

That is the point exactly.. and it seems that both camps use both sides at their leisure. If your 'side' has SOLD more units, then you say.. hey, our side sold more... but if it hasn't the you say "Well that doesn't include e-tailers"

It's a stick that most of the ignorante's out there wave at will.

What stat is the right stat to use then if tracking/correlating mom/pops/walmart/etail is futile?

Shipped shows a commited investment into a franchise, but doesn't always relate to sales...

you know what? It's far more fun to wave the bat around - forget accuracy and science..

So quoting a statistic that doesn't include sales for ALL retailers of Transformers is accurate?

Hey Blu when you going to give us your stats on how Spiderman 3 outsold Transformers from those third world countries? You know those countries are the movers and the shakers when it comes to home entertainment. And Bubblebath, if ya wanna hang with Mr. Blu why don't you just go over to his house and you guys can both relish in all your propaganda.

LOL GhostRider...

First off I said GAMING.. GAMING... LOL you're stretching that into home entertainment. While gaming will (5-15 years) take over all home intertainment... I didn't say that yet..

And THIRD WORLD countries... perhaps, but not for long All Our Base Will Belong To ASIA soon enough if we keep shipping all of our dollars over there... that's a fact!

These forums areas suck. They need some mods BAD. These people like BluCanada and bubblebathergirl trolling are the reasons the AVS forums got suspended. Go back to Gamespot PLEASE!

Cellien,

And you see what good the moderators did at the AVS Forums. When people (or shills) want to argue or sell a product, there's not a lot anyone can do about it. One person's trolling is another person's argumentation and debate.

@Bubblebathgirl:

That's not ironic. I have to visit and post here to know whether or not they suck genius. Is it ironic someone goes to work everyday but they rather be somewhere else? Hint: AVS Forum. I like this site for news, but once AVS is unsuspended, not sure how much I'll be coming back much...so pat yourself on the back fanboy - You've ruined the site. You're welcome to come over to the AVS Forums, you won't last long.

The site admins should take note, these fanboys will ruin your site.

@Puccio:

Yes but PR plants like bubblebathgirl and BluCanada would have been banned in a second.

OK, here we go again. All of you Blu-brainers claiming that Paramount lied, but, Sony , you swear is telling the truth. What is it with you people ? How in the world could ANY OF YOU know this, you read it somewhere on the internet, and in all of your glorious intelectual splendor, you claim that you know all and see all. Did you see the part that Sony was more reluctant to reveal specific numbers ? I would call that very suspicious, why not tell us the real numbers, couldn't be that they are lying again could it, such as the critics scandal ? You people are so quick to call others liars, without doing ANY research at all, NONE ! ! ! How can a magazine know numbers, not every company in the world reports to this magazine, they are a bunch of IDIOTS if they really think that they are that important. Believe me, Paramount knows a whole hell of alot more than you Blu-brainers do, ALOT MORE ! ! !
