the review does not say anything on Spielberg's stand on HD discs. the reviewer only reviewed the disc.

Yeah, I was gonna' say . . .
I guess it's one of those "read between the lines" sort of things. Perhaps I need to be enlightened to what I'm supposed to look for in the review. I am dense.

if spielberg was really waiting for "critical mass" adoption numbers (like he did with SD DVD), then he would've asked sony to put the blu-ray version on the back burner. instead, he's going along with sony's push to get blu-ray ahead of hd dvd.
let's not play dumb, people.

Well, that's certainly one take on CEK3K for Blu-ray... but then Sony doesn't really need Spielberg's approval to release the film in HD, regardless of the director's personal opinion on "critical mass adoption numbers" etc "like he did with SD DVD".
Unless Spielberg controls this film's home video rights (which he doesn't), Sony can release it whether he personally approves (or not). Same goes for Speilberg's other films, if they are under the studio's control for home video distribution (many are with Universal, of course, who are supporting HD-DVD only at this time).

i dont understand ur post, the movie is like 30 yrs old, its a good movie but it wont look that much better in hd. Its gonna be very grainy, i dont understand why even try to make these old movies look better, i like the way they look already
there classics, and taking a movie and puting it on a blu ray disc doest make it hd and doest merit a 50 dollar price tag. You cant get hd out of a movie 30yrs old! the tech just wasnt around back then.
