We include in disc release details any information found on the disc case or box itself. If the disc is marked on the case as a "Special Edition," that's how we list it. If the box set says "Complete Collection," that's how we list it, even if a few years later a studio releases another box set of almost the same material but adds even more, later episodes.

Complete TV Series Sets are HUGE business for the studios, which is why we're seeing a whole lot more. Friends, West Wing, Full House, Queer as Folk, Star Trek: TNG, Seinfeld...and those are ones I have right off the top of my head.
It's cost effective, too. All the studio really has to do is take presumably already created discs and stick them in a new box. Costs should be relatively low and they sell like gangbusters.
I'm personally very worried about a complete Simpsons Series set. It should run more than a month's pay and hold a thousand discs.

You are absolutely right! And VERY profitable, as while movie DVD discs have fallen to ridiculous sale-thru prices ($3.99 to $5.99 regularly in weekly discount sales), the TV SHOW DVDs have held steady in price and sell very, very well to long-time fans. Only occasionally do you see a "season 1" etc reduced to a "sale" price. Most TV SHOW Box Sets are priced between $25 to $50, realizing the best, profitable content on discs these days for the studios.

Studios have also been re-releasing a lot of "Complete Series" or "Megaset" packages recently, usually at much lwoer prices. I know I've reviewed a few Complete series that were released 3 or 4 years ago at $179, and now are put out at $99. And not even with any new features or transfers. Older buyers are probably pretty peeved, but it shows you how deflationary the DVD market has become.
