According to the New York Times Dreamworks Pictures (not animation) headed by Steven Spielberg wants out of the Paramount camp. Universal and Fox are considering.

Hasn't this wrangling between DreamWorks and Paramount been going on for the last six months? And I understand the possible DreamWorks move would be to Universal. I'm not sure the average moviegoer or DVD buyer would notice the difference.

Doesn't General Electric now own Universal? (It's difficult to keep track of that "hot potato".) And how can DreamWorks just decide to just pick up and leave Paramount, considering the acquisition included the assumption of about a gazillion dollars of Paramount debt? And wasn't the library sold to George Soros sometime ago? How does that complicate this picture?
Sheesh, the entertainment industry has to be the most complicated business sector, ever.

or this could just be posturing on dreamworks part. they act like they won't reup and it's just an attempt to get a better deal. i would believe this when i see it.
