I have a friend who works for Wal-Mart and he says that the store is getting reimbursed by the studios for all the free discs. They are also (wisely in my opinion) blocking returns of the free movies so someone can't $250-300 back (they will still exchange faulty discs though). I personally think it is an awesome deal. I have been waiting to buy a PS3 and now I surely will. I played the 360 and since I hate first person shooters and since that is ALL there is on XBOX 360 that is a no go. The Wii gets really boring after a couple of hours plus aside from a couple of games it is a kids system. I am from a small town and I don't think that many people here who even know what Blu-Ray or HD-DVD are so I don't think there will even be a line. This is a great deal by the media that will win out in the end (hopefully).

Keep hoping.
Let me stress this again, for MOST people, $499 is a lot of money regardless of what temptations Sony can throw at it. Free movies or not, $499 is a big chunk of change for the average consumer. Therefore, no, this is not a great deal.

Isn't the XBOX 360 premium $100 cheaper then the PS3? I would love to see sales stats for the consoles after the holidays. If the PS3 starts getting some games, and actually gives away free games with it (instead of movies) I think sales will start going up. For now it's primary function is as a bluray player in my opinion.

The XBOX 360 with a HDDVD player is more than a 40 Gig PS3 and as far as playing old PS2 games it would make logical sense that of you own a lot of PS2 games that you must already own a PS2, and let's not talk about compatablity issues, you can't even play 360 games without it frying let alone regular XBOX games. A 360 system does'n support the latest HDMI nor HD audio and in everyway is inferior to the PS3. It is all most a first person shooter system, and anyone notice it took a year after the XBOX came out to have really good games. In '08 the PS3 will have a lot of must have titles. No system has ever came out of the gate with killer titles it always takes time. This November marks the first year of PS3. And inspite of the fact that Sony is fighting a war on to fronts it's still hold it's own against two giant companies. Tim stop being so condescending to Wal*Mart customers because according to John Wal*mart and Target count for a huge percentage of HDTV sales in the country.

360 premium ( redesigned- does not brake) and comes with hdmi and cable. 349.00 best buy with two free pretty good games (not first person shooters. lol ) alot cheaper online. the old premiums do tend to brake, but hence the 3 yr warranty, which now microsoft is mostly replacing them.
in 08 ps3 will this.....and will that. sure, when it does ill buy one. for now i take what works. who cares about who ps3 is fighting. thats what they get for tryign to merge movie playback and gaming.

Well Kuco, I hope you pocket's are full and your stomach is empty, cause your're about to shell out and eat your words. But then again you did say that you were rich? All the 360 makes you want to do is make a 360 degree turn and give it back to Microsoft (GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME) I don't buy a game console to give it back for a month. And even if you bought a 360 at $250 and bought the add on you still be paying more. I bet you have a 360 with add on. Kinda wish you waited ha. Toshiba and Microsoft, one can't make disks right and the other can't make disks play right...oh my goodness.
