Ok first Tony, I bought the Wii for my 8 year old daughter for this Christmas. And I bought it so I could enjoy playing wholesome video games with her. I am glad she will run around like a chicken with her head cut off, she is a kid. I enjoy my time with my daughter, thats why I purchased it.
And what I meant, is that video game consels ( IE. The PS3) should not have integrated the Blu Ray with the console. You buy a game consel to play games and you buy DVD players to watch movies. And as for the PS3, well that hunk of useless plastic has had it's share of problems itself. Hmm never owned a PS2, well maybe you should, it is the hottest thing SONY has on the gaming market now.

Simply put, I bought a Wii to play games. And I bought a Toshiba HD DVD player to watch Hi Def movies. The 2 should have never been brought together.
Your last statement does'nt make since because you said you bought it to play games but if it's for your little girl, why not buy a HDDVD player, obviously you want to play Wii more than she does and since it does not offer and add on player you have no choice, so my conclusion is the whole arrangement is for you. Once again logic prevails...but hey invisiblebiker it's all good.......it's all good.

Kucoloco,
Like I said a billion times before. The XBOX 360 is a nice system what makes it fail short of a great system is the failure rates. If this was an issue with the PS3 I would not have bought one. I REFUSE TO BUY SOMETHING THAT SOON OR LATER I MIGHT HAVE TO SEND IT BACK, Microsoft is a software company with no track record in electronics that's why in 2 1/2 yrs they'll be talking about a new system. That's why the PS1 and 2 lasted for so long because SONY is an electronics company. Do you here about SONY developing software........no. Microsoft can't even make a descent working version of Vista. Again rushing to the market, Microsoft's biggest enemy is that they really have no competition on the software front and they think that will carry over to video games as well. Another example hundreds of thousands of the Halo 3 special editions had scracthes on them and would not play. SONY may overprice but at least you know that it's a fair chance that their electronics will work. I guess that when their new system comes out you'll buy that one as well, but if you're happy with your 360 than I'm happy for you too. Like the SONY ceo said, "we are trying to win this war on merit." on both fronts.

yeah, the the ps2 WAS reliable. So was the other one I bought to replace the one that died 2 years later. AND the one after that I bought another 2 years later. Except for the fact it stopped working, it was flawless!
BTW-if anyone was still unclear, the site updated and it IS, in fact, 10 movies in store and the 5 free by mail. So good luck to anyone attempting to buy one.

But Tony, you are forgetting that PlayStations get outdated pretty quickly, and when the new ones come out they aren't backwards compatible. Add to the fact that there aren't very many great games to choose from, and your argument isn't very valid.

Ummm...didn't the PS1 have a whole mess of Playstations returned because they stopped working after like 15,000 hours for no reason? Also the first Playstation had a problem with overheating. So I wouldn't exactly call the PS1 reliable.

my elite, or my friends elites are perfect. so i guess people wanna take their chances with a system that is fun and brakes (how you say.. even though they all dont) than with one that does not.. and has no games

This arguement is so rediculous.
I've had two 360's. One has died twice with the RRoD. Microsoft has replaced it both times, the other unit hasn't failed yet. If it fails, oh well, I don't play it every day, its got fun games, and they are covering the cost and taking a $2 billion dollar loss for their heatsink design flaw.
I'd rather have all the games I do play, than a system twice the cost (as it would have been a year ago) with no games to play.
People who are judging it on its failure rate have a horrible arguement to hold on to for several reasons:
1) In July MS switched to a new heatsink/heatpipe design to correct the primary failure reason
2) In September, MS switched the CPU to 65nm which reduces the heat
3) Microsoft has replaced free of charge (INCLUDING RETURN SHIPPING) all dead xbox 360s
4) Why get a console if a console is going to sit there because there are no games for it....atleast a 360 dies because it overheats because you are playing games on it
You may say thats a pretty bad record but, consider this: It originally shipped with a 1 year warranty. The 3 year was to make up for their mistake. Its been an average of 11 months between failurs on my original box, and they specifically stated they will replace it with one of the newer units due to it being my second occurance. I say they are going above and beyond what was required of their 1-year warranty to ensure people get a product that works for them.
Regarding comments on the Wii....the Wii has been proven time and time again to be in a completely different market than the xbox 360 and PS3. Only reason I bought mine was for the virtual console....I ended up buying Wii games to try to justify owning the console, but most of them sucked and ended up on the shelf
