Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End [Blu-ray] has lots of problems. I've experience other issues with this title using the PS3 on Sharp Aquos D64 Series HD-LCD

- Deleted Scene "Two Captains, One Ship" will not play without the director’s commentary. (User must switch audio using the players on-screen menu to switch the commentary off)

- “Enter the Maelstrom: The Interactive Experience” The talking skull intro spoke a different language (not English) before playing the featurette.

- User may lose audio “menu clicks” while navigating the menu while pip featurette is playing.

- No "Play All" for the "Masters of Design" (probably not an error but "play all" is standard for featurettes with multi-segments.)

Let’s face it some Blu-ray backed studios are still working out some bugs. I blame Disney not the Blu-ray format. I love the capabilities of my PS3 and would not trade it for another Blu-ray or HD-DVD player on the market.

Standard DVD Players have the biggest playback problems and Cover art typos of all time not Blu-ray or HD-DVD. Just do a quick internet search and you will find many web pages devoted to such playback problems and disc recalls for standard DVD discs.

I plan to post this on Amazon in hopes that someone will issue a disc recall.

Guys, wether some Blu players have ethernet or not, or if I had to download a disc.....some updates you gotta wait a while for. I dont know about you guys, but i been having people over every weekend.. the unnofficial "HD" get together among friends. now some people are aware of the war. and some dont really care... but just enjoy high def.. and will probably buy both formats....

Is not aceptable to not be able to watch a new release for a week or two, once investing all that money. you guys seem pretty calm but.... I would be very UPSET if my new Ultimatum HDDVD doesent play this week-end. but i dont normally worry, with how reliable HDDVDS are.

I’ve already mentioned all the bugs I've found but the reason the disc may not play on some TV’s nothing to do with Blu-ray.

Pirates of the Caribbean - At World's End takes advantage of the 1080p 24Hz Output. If your TV can't handle 24Hz Output you must set your PS3 to "BD 1080p 24Hz Output (HDMI): Auto". It's that simple. Don't blame the disc format.

Edit:
Set "BD 1080p 24Hz Output (HDMI): Off" My PS3 is always set to auto and Pirates 3 played fine minus the bugs but I guess others will require the "Off" setting.

Sumlikeitnot, ALL HD DVD's and bluray movies are encoded in 1080p/24. Just letting you know.

Actually, except for a few native 1080i (interlaced) releases (for both formats), ALL releases are encoded on the disc as native 1080p/24, and you don't have to set your players for a special output so as to be "compatiable" with the disc.

My PS3 is set to 1080i output, and will play the Blu-rays just fine, regardless of the "auto" setting. Same for my Toshiba A1 player, where I've played HD-DVDs at both 1080i and 720p output of the signal. Haven't rented Pirates 3 on Blu-ray yet, though.

Actually on the PS3, set it to "off" and see if that works. If my memory serves me right, there are only two options on the PS3 - "Off" and "Auto". Auto settings on the PS3 use the HDMI communication to figure out the highest or best settings your display can handle - and will output 24fps if your TV says it can handle it. Perhaps the PS3 is mistakenly thinking certain displays can handle 24fps via the HDMI handshake when they really can't. I'm just guessing here since mine seems to work okay @ 24fps with the Optoma HD80.

You make bathtime lots of fun,
Rubber Ducky, I'm awfully fond of you

Woo woo be doo

Rubber Ducky, joy of joys,
When I squeeze you, you make noise!
Rubber Ducky, you're my very best friend, it's true!

Doo doo doo doo, doo doo

Every day when I
Make my way to the tubby
I find a little fella who's
Cute and yellow and chubby

Rub-a-dub-a-dubby!

Rubber Ducky, you're so fine
And I'm lucky that you're mine
Rubber ducky, I'm awfully fond of you.
