Blu ray won best HD title of the year. Also taking home seven out of eleven awards.

i really can't argue with this. the quality of the disney titles are exceptional. they're worth every penny. i was floored by Pirates 3 and ratatouille. and casino royale was very good as well. what did surprise me was that transformers didn't win for a best audio catagory. my set up is a far cry from a professional set up, but i thought the audio was most impressive.

and if you count down from ten, you'll see the first HD fanboy claim these results are biased. 10...9...8...

They had to throw a bone to HDDVD.

well, you cannot argue Disney knows how to put stuff out on Hi-Def. Those are deserved wins.

I don't get 300, though, and I'd probably argue if just the HD-DVD version won as well. BUT considering that both were rated nearly identical in almost every review I read, how does either format legitimately have an edge, especially factoring in that the HD-DVD version actually had MORE bonus features? It makes no sense and, yes, I smell shenanigans.

The HDDVD version won best bonus features.

Well the Overall HD title was probably based on Sales and all sorts of Criteria added together. So that would explain 300. Whether you thought it was a good movie or not it was the first "must have" HD title on either format. Can't really argue with any of the other winners. Though I'm sure some people will be upset Transformers won for best audio, considering it isn't a lossless track. I'll just say of all the HD-DVD's in my collection Transformers is the one I come back to show off my setup to my friends.

I agree, the Disney BD releases deserved to win. But just keep this in mind, they would have been just as impressive had they been issued in HD DVD. As far as "300" goes, that is a little odd, but keep in mind the Home Media Magazine tends to be more pro-BD in general. That may explain their choice. Or it may not.

This was not a solid endorsement of BD. Read this article:

I think "Planet Earth" should have at least received special mention for being the #1 title with "legs" on either format. Those big blockbusters come and go from the top selling 10 disks, but for some reason Planet Earth just keeps on keepin' on.

I would agree about Planet Earth. Visually it's absolutely spectacular. There should have been a category for HD documentary or something.
