The simple fact is that if MS put an HD-DVD drive in the Elite it would have ran the cost up to around the price of a PS3. And that's exactly what they DO NOT want to do.

I bought XBox360 the spring of 2006. It was great. I loved my XBox360, even though I was a little pissed that I had to pay for XBoxLIVE service. I bought my PS3 in 2006 because it was capable of playing HiDef discs for movies & games. I sold my whole XBox360 package (without games) for $580 on eBay. It was the best thing I ever did. But I'll tell you what... If 360 had an internal HD-DVD drive that played Movies & Games, I would have never sold it. I would have still bought PS3 but I would have never went 100% Blu.

Microsoft is a sham in my eyes. They are liers and cheats. My 360 never broke. I think because it was one of the first. My friend Jay went through 3 premiums and 2 Elites already. That is INSANE!!!

I bought my 360 for $399 & the WiFi for $99. That's $500 right there. My PS3 was only 100 more. So I don't understand the price issue. The 360 was cool when it came out in 2005, but now, that's it. It's life cycle is complete. PS3 and Blu-ray are going to take over and it's all Microsoft's fault.

They release XBox's like they're going out of style. Every coupld of months there is a new one. They should have just release a FULL HD version without the Red Ring of Death. Then Blu-Ray would have never been.

Original XBox - November 15th, 2001
360 Premium - Nov 2005
360 Core - 2005
Elite - May 2007
Halo Edition - 2007
Arcade - 2007

That's 6 different consoles within 6 years, 5 of which that have completely different capabilities.

It makes no sence. M$'s backwards logic is what ultimately killed the HD-DVD Format.

I must say, that although I am a fan of HD-DVD, I do think that it was Microsoft's fault that the format failed. I own a hell of a lot of HD-DVD movies (83) and I feel cheated that Microsoft didn't support the format to their full potential. I mean, I'm happy they paid off Paramount & Dreamworks but I don't consider that to be, "looking ahead". All Microsoft did was put a bandaid on a broken leg.

I mean, hell, you want to beat Sony in the console wars and defeat them in the HiDef war and the best you can come up with is paying off a studio. Big deal! That's not getting my well earned money back for all the crap I bought. Put the damn drive in the 360 already. Frig!

Although I think Superdynamite is a mental case and I don't agree with anything he says, I do think that his points about Microsoft and the two formats are true. Microsoft came out of the box like a bat outta hell. They said HD-DVD was gonna be the next format. Oh Yeah? Well what the hell happened Microsoft? Where are you now? Now we need you and you just walk away? I'm pretty mad at them for abandoning the format so quickly.

So now, I'm gonna face the facts. What else can I do? I'm not investing anymore money, that's for sure. Paramount & Universal can't lose money forever. When they switch over to blu, I guess that's when it will truly be over. But for now, I think I have a good month or so to eBay all my HD-DVD stuff. I'll probably be able to recoup more than half if I do it before the last two studios turn.

Thanks for listening,

Clear enough?

I agree. If M$ would have put an HD-DVD drive in the 360, Blu-ray would have NEVER won. That is a fact.

Not really. If the 360 had HD DVD standard it would have obviously been more expensive and may not have taken off the way it did. If they still could make it $400 at launch then yeah it would have been a success.

What do you mean, "Not Really"?

It happened already. Sony's business model is proven. You're saying NOT REALLY to something that already happened. If M$ could do it all over again, they'd put the HD-DVD drive in the 360.

PS3 was $599 at launch.
360 was $399 without anything. No WiFi, No HD. After you buy the WiFi, it's $500 anyway. What's another $100?

Microsoft dropped the ball on the HD-DVD thing, BigTime!!!

What are we going to do about it now. It's too late. I hope they learn for next time, if there is a Next time.

They should refund all the money I spent on their junk. Like I said, I'm eBaying everything. I hope I can recoup some of the money I spent.

Thanks a lot M$.

The only thing OVERATED SONY has proven, is that Money talks and bullshit runs the marathon. Yea that's right they threw so much ching around it aint funny. Junk, talk about junk, they can't even get their stand alone players right. Recall this, Blu Ray movies not playing on that. But oh never fear PS3 is here. LMFAO, it is a gaming system, that says it is a movie machine. Hell if I was a gamer I would be pissed, they offer Spiderman 3 free but no games. And to top it all off, the 7 year old PS2 is kicking it's ass.
Go ahead Blu Boys, keep gloating, because the only thing SONY will prove is how they killed the HD DVD technology. Yea thats right, all Blu Ray is, is HD DVD hiding behind your little blue box.

I honestly think that Sony knows their product is flawed and that's why they bought off everyone. A prove of this is that Sony did not launch an official BD website like the HD-DVD camp did until last month when Sony secured WB and Fox. And that's a fact because I was looking for the longest time their official BD site and nothing all of the sudden, right after WB announced BD only, the official BD site popped up out of nowhere like a daisy in the spring. They did not, and I bet still do not have faith in their own product.
