Somebody should tell sony to actually make games for their gaming system.

Quite spreading FUD. My son just told me that the PS3 has at least two games. He mentioned "clank" and something about "uncharted" or something like that. I'll take my 10 year old's expertise in this area as fact before yours!

In all seriousness why is DVDTown posting gaming article stuff? Is that relevant somehow to the site?

It became very relevant when Sony decided that their third Playstation should play a part in the HD format war. The success or failure of the Playstation 3 is very closely connected to the success of Blu-ray.

Henning, are you saying then that Sony managed to get half as many new Blu-ray players into consumer's homes in a single month than HD DVD has done to date since its inception?

Half kidding there. But I still don't get the relevance, considering the article concerns (and compares) it to pure gaming platforms (rather than HDM players), and I'm not sure if Sony's trailing console numbers are indicative of the end of the format war. It seems it's a gaming machine here when articles like this are posted, but a Blu-ray player with dismal attach rates when other articles are posted. I'm not sure what *it* exactly is myself, except that it looks fine by my Toshiba HD DVD player.

Didn't the 360 have a year head start over PS3? I do remember reading that somewhere. Like I said before the only wonder machine is the Wii.

Ya but that does not explain why the 360 continues to outsell the ps3, it only explains overall sales.

We bought a Wii for Christmas for our daughter in November. I'm to blame for at at least "1" in that number sold!

Edit: BTW, if anyone has recommendations on really good Wii games suitable for an 11 year old girl, I'd love to hear them.

well since the main selling point for the ps3 is its blu ray player i think it is very relevent to in include this article on this site. I think sony forgot the ps3 is actualy a gameing console, if u look at the game lineup are lack there of, you can see why the ps3 is failing. When the ps2 came out, it also used a new format on it which was the dvd, back then sonys ps2 was a alot of peoples entry level player to the dvd format. doest seem important now but when the ps2 was released dvd players were considered highend and cost 200 to 300 dollars. The ps2 also had a great game line up from day one. Sonys ps2 is why i think dvd was so succesful, i think there around 100 million ps2 sold so thats 100 million dvd player as well.

yeah, the whole "360 had a head start" doesnt work anymore since Sony's also had a year to get people to want their machine, which many clearly don't. I took advantage of the Wally sale for the movies, but it hasn't been turned on in about 2 weeks, so I have to say it currently fails at its intended use...unless Sony's ploy was to have us all buy really sleek paperweights
